The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Own a caseload of plaintiff-side civil disputes, taking matters from the initial pleading stage to a final outcome, including courtroom advocacy. The work blends writing and arguing court papers, building the factual record and keeping clients updated, alongside seasoned trial lawyers.
What you'll do
- Run plaintiff-side matters end to end, covering pretrial discovery, contested motions and jury trials.
- Prepare, submit and argue court papers such as discovery motions, general motion practice and responses to summary judgment requests.
- Investigate the facts of each matter to establish fault and quantify losses.
- Keep clients updated and walk them through each phase of their case.
- Partner with fellow attorneys and legal staff to shape and carry out case strategy.
- Take on complex matters and grow your courtroom skills through mentoring from senior lawyers.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- At least 3 years of plaintiff-side civil litigation experience with significant courtroom exposure.
- A minimum of 3 civil jury trials tried to a verdict.
- Background at a firm representing plaintiffs rather than defendants.
- Proven ability to move cases forward independently from start to finish.
- A law degree (JD) and active, good-standing admission to the Illinois bar.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish.
- Solid command of state procedural rules and substantive law in this practice area.
- Empathetic, clear communication with clients throughout lengthy proceedings.
- Authorization to work in the US.

Compensation and benefits
- Base salary: USD 115,000 to 185,000 per year
