Loss Control Managing Consultant - Chicago, IL
Territory - Primarily the Chicago, IL area.
Position Summary:
Manage internal and vendor loss control resources, ensuring the effective evaluation of property and casualty hazards and controls for current and prospective policyholders, dedicating no less than 50% of own time to completing Loss Control inspections.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:• Interpret data for branch book of business to:
- Identify account service opportunities
- Policyholder and agent/broker loss control resource needs
• Deliver the GNY Loss Control value proposition through impactful policyholder service.
- Produce loss analyses for service accounts to determine directional focus
- Develop service proposals which include the collection of qualitative data
- Achieve customer buy-in and execute service plans thoroughly
- Measure and translate outcomes
• Collaborate with and support branch management and underwriters in:
- New business acquisition through direct agent/broker and client engagements including but not limited to:
- Speaking engagements at broker, GNY and association hosted events
- Development and presentation of policyholder service strategies
- Coordination of renewal underwriting surveys and recommendation follow-up
• Develop loss control guidance documents, evaluation tools and supplemental forms to support underwriting decision making and the GNY Loss Control value proposition.
• Support the development of internal technical knowledge in assigned office.
• Pursue professional development of skills, knowledge and abilities to include pursuit of designations and industry knowledge
• Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.
• Bachelor’s degree in a business, engineering, safety, or risk management OR Associate in Risk Management designation required.
• 10 years experience evaluating property and casualty risks required
• Experience presenting risk improvement opportunities in a manner that achieves customer buy-in and recommendation compliance.
- Possess familiarity with local and national building and fire codes.

- Experience in presenting on risk topics in front of an external audience.
- Ability to operate a vehicle with valid driver’s license in good standing.
- Ability to climb stairs and/or ladders to investigate properties.
The salary range for this role is $97,300-$182,500. The listed annual salary range posted for this position is subject to change and may vary depending on performance, education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, demonstrated proficiency in the competencies required for the role and business needs. Base pay is just one component of GNY’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards include eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus based on performance.
