What you'll do: 

In this role at NinjaTrader, you will play a key role in augmenting the accounting function as we enter the next phase of the company’s growth. Reporting to the Controller, you will provide critical organizational support across several accounting areas while gaining high visibility into the business’s day-to-day operations through NinjaTrader’s FCM entity. You will have a seat at the table for several key initiatives, including the build-out of internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting regulations. This is a high-impact role that works closely with stakeholders across the business while driving continuous improvement and automation efforts. 

In this role you will: 

  • Build out and maintain accounting policies to ensure U.S. GAAP compliance across the business 
  • Assist with technical accounting workstreams, including drafting and reviewing disclosures, preparing pro forma financials, and supporting potential SEC filing requirements 
  • Partner with the Controller and business stakeholders to design, implement, and monitor internal controls and accounting policies in preparation for SOX 404(a) and SOX 404(b) compliance 
  • Research and document positions on complex accounting issues, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), leases (ASC 842), stock-based compensation (ASC 718), business combinations (ASC 805), and other new business initiatives 
  • Assist the Controller in drafting and implementing technical accounting memos and position papers for internal and external use 
  • Review revenue recognition workpapers to support accurate revenue recognition under ASC 606 
  • Take ownership of the month-end close process for key areas by monitoring a team of accounts to ensure close deadlines and reporting requirements are consistently met 
  • Prepare monthly GAAP financial statements for internal and external reporting 
  • Provide oversight and guidance to the Finance Operations (FinOps) team to establish scalable, SOX-aligned processes and controls 
  • Support the year-end audit process, including financial statement preparation and related footnote documentation 
  • Drive process improvement, innovation, and automation to streamline accounting and FinOps functions 
  • Serve as a mentor by sharing general accounting knowledge and supporting the development of accounting and FinOps team members 

What you'll need: 

  • 6+ years of relevant experience, with strong preference for public accounting and/or auditing public companies 
  • Prior experience within accounting functions at a public company and/or high-growth technology company 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 
  • CPA certification 
  • Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606, 842, 718, and 805 
  • Strong technical accounting research and writing skills, including drafting accounting position papers 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with accounting software 
  • Experience with financial systems such as NetSuite, BlackLine, or Workiva is a plus 
  • Prior experience implementing accounting or financial systems is a plus 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with experience working with large data sets 
  • Experience managing a high-performing team 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and deadlines 
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills 

Bonus Points for: 

  • SEC reporting experience 
  • Knowledge of or prior experience in futures or a related industry 

Compensation: 

The salary range for this role will be $100,000- $130,000 USD. In addition, this position will also receive an annual target bonus of 10%. Bonus pay at NinjaTrader is based on individual performance (50%) as well as company/team performance (50%). 

Salary and bonus earnings are only two components of the total compensation package offered by NinjaTrader. NinjaTrader offers a 401K plan through ADP under which the company will match up to 3.5% of employee contributions. Annual paid time off allowance accrues at a rate of 18 days per year (some positions may qualify for more) plus seven paid holidays.

This role is based in Chicago, IL. We are not open to remote candidates for this role 

Hybrid:

For Chicago-based employees, we follow a hybrid work schedule: In-office Tuesday through Thursday, with remote work on Mondays and Fridays. In addition to these weekly remote days, we offer: 

  • 20 additional flex remote days annually 
  • 5 Company Wide Office-Optional weeks tied to major holidays
