Manager, Advanced Development - Robotics Engineering
Description
SharkNinja is seeking a Manager of Advanced Development within our Robotics Engineering group to lead our US-based Advanced Development robotics team and drive early-stage innovation in robotic floorcare. This role is responsible for guiding the day-to-day technical direction, execution, and development of the US team while partnering closely with a global robotics organization to explore, prototype, and mature new product technologies and concepts. The Manager will play a key role in translating consumer needs and innovation themes into tangible building blocks that support Shark's next generation of robotic products.
This is a full-time position based in Newton, Massachusetts.
Duties and Responsibilities• Solve real consumer problems by developing, prototyping, and evaluating new robotic floorcare technologies and product concepts• Lead Advanced Development projects from early concept through proof-of-viability, driving day-to-day technical execution and outcomes• Translate high-level innovation themes and consumer insights into concrete experiments, prototypes, and test plans• Lead and develop the US-based Advanced Development robotics team, setting clear priorities, expectations, and technical direction• Drive project execution by coordinating cross-functional and global resources across Engineering, Product Development, Industrial Design, UX, Quality, and Manufacturing,• Generate data-driven insights by interpreting test results and translating them into clear recommendations and next steps• Prepare technical updates, demonstrations, and documentation to support transitions from Advanced Development into New Product Development• Adapt quickly to shifting priorities while maintaining momentum on longer-term innovation efforts• Partner with external technology collaborators and suppliers to support development work as needed• Identify risks, tradeoffs, and opportunities early, and make thoughtful recommendations on pivots, prioritization, or project continuation
Skills Required• Strong background in systems engineering, robotics, automation, and/or electromechanical systems• Experience working on consumer products or mobile robotics in a fast-paced, global organization• Ability to balance consumer insights with technical feasibility when shaping solutions• Hands-on prototyping and experimentation mindset, comfortable with early-stage ambiguity• Willingness to pursue multiple solution paths and quickly learn from failure• Strong organizational skills with experience juggling multiple projects and priorities• Collaborative approach and respect for cross-functional disciplines including Product Development, Industrial Design, UX, Quality, Testing and Manufacturing• Clear, concise communicator capable of translating technical work into actionable insights
