Job Description

The Manager, Email Marketing Operations & Development will manage the strategy, planning, hands-on HTML development, and execution of our email marketing program within Salesforce Marketing Cloud and other systems. This role is responsible for personally coding, building, and deploying production-ready HTML email campaigns directly within SFMC, while also managing a robust email calendar and shaping overall email strategy in partnership with the Senior Director, Relationship Marketing.

This role will collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, analytics, and CRM teams to build and launch advanced customer email journeys, automated workflows, dynamic content, and ad hoc email campaigns. It requires expert-level skills in SFMC tools, scripting languages (e.g., AMPscript), and marketing automation best practices.

As a key driver of California Closets’ growth, this role helps lead a high-impact, high-visibility marketing channel and plays a central role in driving measurable results against our core business objectives.

Job Details:

HTML DEVELOPMENT & CAMPAIGN DEPLOYMENT

  • Independently code, build, and deploy responsive, production-ready HTML email campaigns directly within Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Structure HTML to support complex AMPscript implementations, enable dynamic content, personalization, and conditional logic in emails.
  • Build and maintain scalable email templates and modular components leveraging Content Builder
  • Apply SFMC-specific personalization using subscriber attributes, data extensions, dynamic content, and data-driven logic.
  • Own end-to-end HTML QA and testing, ensuring consistent rendering across major email clients, devices, and inbox providers.
  • Demonstrate expert-level understanding of HTML/CSS constraints, with proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve Outlook-specific rendering issues and optimize for dark mode.

EMAIL STRATEGY & OPERATIONS

  • Manage the end-to-end email marketing program including strategic planning, lifecycle design, prioritization, and day-to-day execution in support of acquisition, engagement, retention, and revenue goals.
  • Maintain the email roadmap and content calendar, leading initiatives from concept through deployment by writing clear briefs, coordinating with key cross-functional partners, managing timelines, and ensuring all dependencies are met.
  • Build, manage, and optimize campaigns using Email Studio, Journey Builder, Automation Studio and other SFMC components to deploy personalized, dynamic campaign flows and automations and create advanced multi-step customer journeys.
  • Perform and oversee hands-on operational tasks required to launch campaigns, including audience setup, journey configuration, scheduling, and final pre-send validation.
  • Plan and execute A/B and multivariate tests on subject lines, content, personalization, send times and other engagement drivers.
  • Establish rigorous project management and operational processes to ensure emails are accurately built, reviewed, QA’d, and deployed on time.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve workflows, documentation, and operational efficiency as the email program scales.

ANALYTICS & REPORTING

  • Consistently monitor email campaign and lifecycle performance, using data and analysis to identify trends, risks, and optimization opportunities.
  • Analyze key performance metrics and produce clear, actionable performance readouts and recommendations that inform campaign and program decisions.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and visualizations using Salesforce Marketing Cloud Intelligence Reports.
  • Leverage Google Analytics (GA4) to understand email subscriber behavior and conversion performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Analytics, or related field
  • 7+ years of professional hands-on email marketing experience, ideally at an agency or within a premium lifestyle brand
  • Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Email Specialist (certification required)
  • Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Engagement Developer (certification required)
