Position Summary
The Senior Process Improvement Engineer role, reporting to the Lead Director of Provider Standardization, supports initiatives focused on provider data accuracy, operational effectiveness, process standardization, and strategic improvement efforts across multiple lines of business. 

This role combines project execution, analytical problem solving, stakeholder engagement, and process improvement to support scalable operations and improve business outcomes.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working in ambiguity, organizing complex workstreams, supporting cross-functional initiatives, and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead discovery efforts to clarify business problems, define scope, assess current state, and identify recommended next steps

  • Partner with business and technology teams to translate ideas or pain points into clear project opportunities

  • Develop process maps, SIPOCs, current-state / future-state workflows, and supporting documentation

  • Facilitate working sessions with cross-functional stakeholders to align on problems, requirements, decisions, and next steps

  • Support implementation projects by tracking actions, owners, timelines, risks, issues, and outcomes

  • Apply continuous improvement tools to identify root causes, reduce waste, improve handoffs, and strengthen controls

  • Analyze data to define baselines, quantify impact, identify trends, and measure results

  • Build project charters, RACIs, RAID logs, status updates, and leadership-ready summaries

  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure process changes are implemented, adopted, and sustained

  • Help develop repeatable tools, templates, and standards for the Process Excellence function

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in process improvement, operational excellence, project execution, business operations, or related work

  • Ability to lead ambiguous work and bring structure to unclear problems

  • Experience facilitating meetings or working sessions with cross-functional partners

  • Experience developing process maps, workflows, project documentation, or business requirements

  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, define baselines, and measure outcomes

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to summarize findings, decisions, risks, and recommendations

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, stakeholders, and workstreams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent process improvement experience

  • Experience with discovery, intake, project scoping, or business case development

  • Experience supporting implementation work across business and technology teams

  • Experience with root cause analysis tools such as 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams, FMEA, or A3 thinking

  • Experience with Lean tools such as waste identification, value-added analysis, visual management, mistake proofing, or control planning

  • Experience with statistical analysis, control charts, hypothesis testing, regression, or statistical process control

  • Experience in healthcare, insurance, provider data, operations, shared services, or large matrixed organizations

Education

  • Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Engineering, Business, or related field

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$54,300.00 - $159,120.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
