Job Description

We are looking for a precision-driven Manufacturing Technician to support the production and testing of life-safety communication infrastructure. In this role, you will be the bridge between complex automation and high-precision communication technology. As a Manufacturing Technician, you are the frontline defender of production uptime. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the complex automated and manual test equipment that ensures our products meet the highest quality standards before they leave the factory floor. This role sits at the intersection of hardware, software, and industrial automation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production Support: Provide rapid-response "floor support" to minimize downtime. You’ll identify whether a failure is a "true fail" (product defect) or a "false fail" (test equipment error).

  • Automation & Systems Support: Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot automated manufacturing systems. This includes identifying mechanical, electrical, or software-based bottlenecks in the production flow.

  • Test System Maintenance: Support and optimize automated test equipment. Work closely with the engineering team to implement firmware updates and hardware upgrades. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on test fixtures, thermal chambers, and automated handling equipment to ensure 100% accuracy.

  • Hardware Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical failures in test racks, including replacing PCBAs, sensors, pneumatic components, and wiring harnesses including cables..

  • Documentation & Quality: Maintain meticulous records of equipment downtime, test yields, TPM, and repair logs to drive continuous improvement (CI) initiatives.

  • Software Support: Assist engineers in deploying new test scripts and debugging software-to-hardware communication issues.

Additional Qualifications:

  • PLC Basics: Understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers
(e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens,Beckhoff) that control the physical movement of products through a test cell.

  • Sensors & Actuators: Troubleshooting the "eyes and hands" of thesystem—photoelectric sensors, limit switches, and pneumatic cylinders.

  • Robotics: Basic maintenance of 6-axis or SCARA arms (e.g., FANUC, ABB) used toload/unload devices into test fixtures.

Preferred Skills & Certifications

  • Experience with IP-based networking as it relates to radio consoles and site links

  • Experience with Robotics and Motion Control

  • Expert-level use of Communication Equipment including Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, and Network Analyzers (VNA) to measure gain, loss, and impedance.

Work Environment

  • This role supports equipment used by Police, Fire, and EMS; a high degree of accountability and attention to detail is non-negotiable.

  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs and work in a high-tech manufacturing environment.

  • Clean climate controlled work environment

What Success Looks Like

  • Minimize "No Fault Found" (NFF): Reducing the frequency of good units being rejected due to faulty test equipment.

  • Fast MTTR: Maintaining a low Mean Time To Repair for critical test stations.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identifying "wear and tear" trends and suggesting hardware modifications to improve fixture longevity.

Target Base Salary Range: $60,000  - $70,000

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
