As a CFTC-regulated financial exchange (subject to approval), ElectronX will offer derivatives products that capture the intraday price fluctuations of our rapidly changing electrical grid—helping to smooth the financial path of clean energy adoption across the nation.

What will you be doing?

The Market Operations Associate will play a critical role in real-time market monitoring, surveillance, and operational support while contributing to the firm's broader mission of building highly automated and efficient market operations systems. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and works closely with Compliance and Technology teams. This role is uniquely suited for someone who has thrived in both the structured, high-pressure world of top-tier trading firms and the hands-on operational challenges of leading derivatives exchanges. As a Market Operations Associate, you’ll do more than monitor and maintain systems—you’ll build, improve, and operate critical processes.

Real-Time Market Monitoring & Surveillance

  • Monitor live trading activity and market conditions. This position would be filling the 2:30 PM - 10:00 PM ET shift.

  • Identify, document, and escalate suspicious activity to Compliance when necessary

  • Maintain detailed records of market events and actions taken

  • This role is hybrid and will require dedicated time in the office

Automation & Process Innovation

  • Collaborate with Tech to automate monitoring tools and create real-time alerts

  • Develop Python scripts for data analysis and operational reporting

  • Use Python & SQL to build dashboards and visualization tools to improve market insights

  • Identify inefficiencies and implement scalable solutions

Operational Support & Growth

  • Oversee daily trading operations and system monitoring

  • Assist with onboarding new participants and troubleshooting issues

  • Work with Compliance on investigations and regulatory requests

  • Contribute to business continuity planning and testing

What we need from you?

✔️ 2+ years of experience in derivatives trading operations (market ops, surveillance, exchange ops, etc.)
✔️ Proficiency in Python & SQL—you can analyze data and improve processes
✔️ Thrives in fast-paced, high-stakes environments
✔️ A builder—you don’t just follow processes, you improve them
✔️ Startup mindset—excited to work in a high-growth environment and earn equity in what you help build

Bonus points if: 

  • You have experience with financial services or trading systems infrastructure
