The Marketing Intern will participate in a structured, hands-on learning experience designed to provide exposure to digital marketing, content development, community engagement, and marketing analytics within a mission-driven healthcare organization.

Working closely with members of the Marketing team, the intern will observe, learn, and participate in a variety of marketing activities under direct supervision and guidance. The experience is intended to compliment the intern's academic and professional development by providing opportunities to apply classroom concepts in a real-world environment, develop foundational marketing skills, and build portfolio-ready work.

This is a defined-term, unpaid, internship with an emphasis on mentorship, observation, skill development, and experiential learning to complement academic instruction. This role is based out of our Schaumburg, IL location and may expect some light travel in the market.

Learning & Development Opportunities

Under the guidance and supervision of the Marketing team, the intern may participate in the following areas:

Content & Digital Marketing

  • Learn the fundamentals of social media, digital content, website content management, and creative development by assisting with graphics, captions, short-form video concepts, website updates, newsletters, email campaigns, and other marketing materials.

Community & Market Engagement

  • Gain exposure to community-based marketing by observing and participating in local events, partnership outreach, and research into community organizations, marketing opportunities, and relevant initiatives.

Marketing Analytics & Reporting

  • Develop foundational skills in marketing data organization, campaign tracking, spreadsheets, reporting, and analytics by assisting with data entry and report preparation and reviewing campaign performance with a Marketing team member.

Professional Development & Mentorship

  • Participate in team discussions, mentorship sessions, and supervised marketing projects designed to build practical skills, provide feedback, and increase understanding of marketing careers within healthcare and mission-driven organizations.

Internship Structure

  • Defined start and end date established at the beginning of the internship.

  • Structured learning objectives established in collaboration with the Marketing team.

  • Regular guidance, feedback, and mentorship from designated Marketing team members.

  • Opportunities to observe and participate in team meetings and marketing activities as appropriate.

  • The internship does not guarantee or imply a future role with the organization.

  • Academic credit may be coordinated with the intern's educational institution when applicable.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university program in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.

  • Interest in pursuing a career in marketing, communications, healthcare marketing, nonprofit/community engagement, or a related field.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation tools; experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms is a plus.

  • Basic familiarity with website platforms such as WordPress is a plus but not required.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Basic familiarity with Excel, Google Sheets, or similar spreadsheet tools is helpful.

  • Creative, curious, and eager to learn.

  • Ability to actively participate in a collaborative, feedback-oriented environment.

  • Interest in the autism community, healthcare, or mission-driven organizations is a plus.
