Scrivy is the growth desk for self-published authors. We give KDP authors one toolkit to grow their books on Amazon: keyword rank tracking, sales analytics, listing optimization, A+ Content design, category research, and reader review distribution. We're a small, remote-first team headquartered in the Boston area, building for authors who treat their books like a business.
The roleYou'll be our first senior marketing hire and the owner of the entire marketing function. Today, marketing at Scrivy is a set of working channels run close to the founder. Your job is to turn it into a system: sharpen the positioning, decide where we spend and why, and build the team that executes it. This is a player-coach role. You'll set strategy and you'll also write the launch email yourself when that's the fastest path.
You'll report directly to the founder and, as the team grows, manage our content and growth marketing hires.
What you'll doOwn marketing strategy and the full funnel, from first impression through free trial to paid subscription
Sharpen positioning and messaging for a skeptical, ambitious audience of self-published authors
Set the channel mix across paid social, search, SEO content, email, and partnerships, and decide where the next dollar goes
Define the metrics that matter, build honest measurement around them, and report on what's working without spin
Run launches end to end: new tools, pricing changes, research reports, and brand moments
Hire, manage, and develop the marketing team, starting with content and growth roles
Write. Landing pages, emails, positioning docs. The bar for prose here is high
6+ years in marketing with at least 2 years leading a function or team
Experience growing a subscription software product, ideally one sold to prosumers or small businesses rather than enterprises
A genuinely strong writer. You'll be asked for writing samples
Fluency with funnel data: you can pull your own numbers, question an attribution story, and change course when the evidence says to
A player-coach temperament: you've built strategy and you still enjoy shipping the work
Comfortable being the most senior marketer in the room and owning outcomes without a playbook handed to you
Familiarity with self-publishing, the creator economy, or marketplaces where individuals run small businesses
Lifecycle and email marketing depth
Experience building or repositioning a brand, not just running channels
$130,000–$165,000 base salary, depending on experience
Health, dental, and vision insurance
401(k) plan
Flexible PTO plus company holidays
$1,000 home-office setup budget
An annual book stipend, naturally
We're fully remote across the US, with a home base in the Boston area. The team is small, communication is mostly written and async, and there's no layer between you and the founder. Work ships quickly and gets in front of real authors the same week.
Equal opportunityScrivy is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
