Position Summary

This role will serve as the technical owner of the Microsoft Dynamics platform, responsible for shaping the architecture, guiding implementation decisions, and ensuring the platform evolves as a scalable enterprise capability across Finance, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and future Dynamics domains. The initial focus will be the implementation and stabilization of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance, with responsibility expanding over time to support manufacturing, supply chain, and additional Dynamics capabilities. In our environment, team members operate in a hands-on capacity, meaning this role will combine platform architecture, technical leadership, and system administration to ensure the platform remains secure, stable, and scalable.

Responsibilities

Dynamics Platform Architecture

  • Define and maintain the overall architecture of the Microsoft Dynamics platform across Finance, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain domains.

  • Establish standards for integrations, extensions, security, and development practices.

  • Ensure platform scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.

  • Partner with enterprise architecture and data teams to align Dynamics with broader technology strategy.

ERP Implementation Leadership (Initial Phase – Finance)

  • Provide architectural guidance during the implementation of Dynamics 365 Finance.

  • Partner with implementation vendors to review designs, challenge assumptions, and ensure adherence to best practices.

  • Design integration patterns between Dynamics and other enterprise systems.

  • Ensure the architecture supports financial reporting, operational workflows, and enterprise data strategy.

Expansion to Manufacturing & Supply Chain

  • Extend architectural ownership into manufacturing and supply chain capabilities, including:

    • production and shop floor integration

    • inventory and warehouse management

    • procurement and vendor processes

    • order management and fulfillment

  • Ensure seamless integration between financial and operational processes.

  • Support the evolution of Dynamics into a fully integrated end-to-end ERP platform.

Platform Administration & Operational Stewardship

  • Maintain the operational health of the Dynamics platform including:

    • environment configuration and management

    • user access and security roles

    • system monitoring and performance

    • release coordination across environments

  • Support platform upgrades and lifecycle management.

  • Troubleshoot complex system and integration issues.

Integration & Enterprise Connectivity

  • Architect integrations between Dynamics and enterprise systems across finance, manufacturing, and supply chain ecosystems.

  • Define API and data integration patterns to support reliable system interoperability.

  • Partner with engineering and data teams to support reporting, analytics, and operational data flows.

Development Oversight & Technical Governance

  • Define standards for extensions and customizations across all Dynamics domains.

  • Review technical designs delivered by internal teams or implementation partners.

  • Ensure development aligns with platform best practices and minimizes technical debt.

  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years of System Administrator experience and 2 years of Platform Architecture experience.

  • Experience supporting manufacturing, supply chain, or operational ERP capabilities.

  • Experience with Microsoft ecosystem technologies such as:

    • Azure integration services

    • data integration frameworks

    • DevOps or release management tools

  • Familiarity with analytics platforms such as Microsoft Power BI.

  • Experience working with ERP implementation partners or consulting firms.

This is a remote role with approx. 20% travel (to an Apogee facility and to Apogee Headquarters in Bloomington, MN)

Salary Range: $115,000-140,000 + annual bonus opportunity.
