Department: Maintenance

Reports to: Plant Engineer 

Essential Functions (Duties):

  • Install machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints and drawings in a steel products industrial plant.
  • Perform safety inspections.
  • Repair and maintain industrial production and processing machinery.
  • Perform basic welding, plumbing and fabrication of steel.
  • Maintain machines and equipment. Calibrate or balance equipment and machinery.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Work in a safe manner by complying with all company safety policies to include the utilization of required PPE.
  • Maintain a high degree of quality in performance and methods with regards to efficiency and safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned / assist production teams as necessary .
  • HVAC Knowledge is a huge plus.

Minimum Requirements:

Basic Qualifications : Verifiable millwright / mechanical experience is required for this position. Candidates must be able to work all shifts and pass a pre-employment criminal background check. Applicants must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop, twist, kneel, squat, and work in other awkward positions. Candidates must have hands on experience with inspecting, servicing, repairing and rebuilding hydraulics equipment. Working overtime for maintenance days 

  • Repairing and replacing pneumatic equipment, pumps, fans, blowers.
  • Welding, fabricating, and installing parts.
  • Changing gearboxes and chains, drives, belts, bearings.
  • Performing preventative maintenance activities in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to use heavy liftin equipment and lifts.
  • Knowledge of burners, burner controls is big plus.

Essential Physical and Mental Requirements:

This position requires excellent attention to detail and strong motivation toward company, team and individual results. Must work effectively with others and demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness. Must be able to read, analyze and interpret written communications. Must possess ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and fellow employees. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide with the ability to solve practical and technical problems. Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram or schedule formats.

Employees in all production positions must be able to immediately perceive auditory warning signals such as bells, alarms and horns that are used to warn employees of the start-up, movement or approach of equipment (including forklifts, overhead cranes, conveyors, trucks and other equipment operated inside or outside the facility), mechanical abnormalities, and similar risk situation during production operations.
