All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) positions.JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey.

Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda.Membership is a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.

Overview

The Fundraising Lead role involves planning and executing fundraising initiatives, collaborating across departments, and reporting to [insert name/position]. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to spot fundraising opportunities, and managing campaigns to support JerseySTEM's mission.

Responsibilities
  • Research individuals interested in giving 
  • Effectively convey the organization’s mission, vision, and programs to potential donors 
  • Strategize for and successfully execute fundraising campaigns 
  • Organize fundraising events  
  • Set goals in collaboration with JerseySTEM leadership and track results  
  • Recruit and manage additional help needed to develop and execute plans 
  • Maintain the JerseySTEM brand voice and standards in all work
Qualifications
  • At least three years of professional experience in fundraising/development, inclusive of both individual solicitation and event-based strategies   
  • Exceptional communication abilities (written and oral) with strong attention to detail 
  • Excellent relationship-building skills 
  • Experience with donor research  
  • Competence with donor management or CRM systems 
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, colleagues, and volunteers 
  • Organizational skills to successfully balance multiple projects at once 
  • Proactive, collaborative style 
  • Passion for JerseySTEM’s mission 
RequirementsWe prefer candidates with experience in G-Suite and Slack, confident public speaking skills, and a background in legal or accounting. While these qualifications are preferred, they are not mandatory for the role.
