We're looking for an intern to join our Servicing Organization on the Money Movement team! In this role, you’ll work directly as a member of the team to help build critical workflows within our internal tools to streamline and enhance customer support actions. Working within the technology organization at Avant, you'll be working cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Data organizations to help build beautiful, resilient, and accessible user experiences.
 

What you’ll do at Avant:

• Work with other engineers to write, test, and deploy application code using Python and Ruby on Rails

• Build and optimize internal tool workflows that directly impact our customer support efficiency

• Deploy services into Kubernetes clusters and leverage AWS technologies

• Leverage AI-assisted development for leveling up your code

• Develop and maintain robust microservice communication patterns to ensure seamless data exchange across our distributed servicing architecture

• Utilize an Agile SDLC to manage project tasks and contribute to a fast-paced development cycle

• Write robust tests to increase code confidence and cover fail points in the future

• Participate in design discussions, peer code reviews via GitHub, and team meetings

• Be a part of a strong culture of ownership, pragmatism, and testing

Why you’re at fit at Avant:

• You are an Undergraduate student majoring in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a comprehensive field, or have other relevant background experience

• You have an interest in backend and frontend technologies, specifically Ruby and Python

• You are interested in learning how to manage data with PostgreSQL and ORMs like Django or Rails

• You demonstrate a strong capability to learn and adapt to new technical stacks

• You're willing to dive deep into ambiguous engineering issues to provide high-integrity engineering solutions

• You know the importance of automated testing and CI/CD pipelines and are eager to leverage them for high-quality, high confidence deploys

This role is based on our downtown Chicago Office, located in the Merchandise Mart. We highly value collaboration and our hybrid schedule (M, T, Th in-office) enables flexibility to balance work and individual priorities.

Compensation Range:

The base salary range for this job is USD $36 - USD $42/ hour

Employees will be evaluated for any new role at their current level. Employees new to a role typically come in below the midpoint of the pay range. The posted compensation range is based on the level outlined in the job posting, and compensation decisions are dependent on each applicant's experience, skills and abilities.
