Bartlett Park District is a unit of local government that provides 611 acres of beautiful parks and outstanding recreational opportunities for the residents of Bartlett and surrounding communities. Major facilities of this Illinois Distinguished Accredited Agency and two-time National Gold Medal finalist include 44 parks, a flagship community center, indoor aquatic center and outdoor water park, a 9-hole golf course and an 18-hole golf course, event venue, ski slopes, athletic field complex, nature center, two gymnasiums, and more.
JOB SUMMARY: The BCC Open Gym Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the youth and adult open gyms at Bartlett Community Center. This position involves cash handling, ensuring participants sign waivers, monitoring the open gym session, handling issues, and problem solving as they arise. This is an at-will position. Primary duties include:
- Check the gym conditions to ensure it is safe to play in.
- Comply with and assist in the enforcement of the Cash Handling Procedures and ensure that all participants pay the entry fee and sign the paperwork and waiver.
- Manage the gym throughout open gym, handling problems with teams, coaches, parents, and players, following the rules and regulations set by the Park District. This may include completing paperwork as needed.
- Interact with people in a professional and friendly manner.
- Answer all questions to the best of your knowledge. If you do not know the answer, direct them to contact the Recreations Manager at the Park District; or take their name and number, come ask the manager, and report back to the individual with the answer.
- Monitor the gym, gym hallway, bathroom facility, and any other immediate areas at all times.
- Provide basic first aid.
- Set-up and clean up gym. This includes: setting-up and taking down Point of Sale station (computer/cash drawer), adjusting backboards, putting up and taking down volleyball or pickleball nets, etc.
- Accept cash, check or bank cards for payment of programs and services, making change accurately, bank out daily and balance daily.
- Maintain general cleanliness of the gym with occasional sweeping or wiping down surfaces.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 16 years of age.
HOURS & PAY: This is a part-time, hourly position. Position runs November - March. Hours will be 3:15PM - 5:30PM Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and 6:00PM - 8:30PM on Sundays. Anticipated hiring range will be between $15.00 - $16.00 per hour, DOQ.
