Quantitative Operations Engineer

At Geneva Trading, we’re redefining what operations can be. We’re looking for a Quantitative Operations Engineer who thrives at the intersection of data engineering, AI/ML, and process automation. This is not your traditional operations role, this is a chance to build, optimize, and innovate the systems that power a global proprietary trading firm.

You’ll work closely with operations, trading, risk, and engineering teams to identify inefficiencies, automate workflows, and develop tools that transform how we manage and interact with data. This will be a dual role, focused on ideation/innovation while providing essential front-line support for our traders.

If you’re passionate about solving complex problems with code, leveraging AI to drive efficiency, and building systems that scale, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

50% of the time:

  • Design and implement tools and systems that automate manual workflows and improve operational efficiency.
  • Use large language models and machine learning techniques to extract insights, automate tasks, and enhance decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines that ensure clean, reliable, and accessible data across the firm.
  • Evaluate and re-engineer existing applications to improve performance, usability, and scalability.
  • Partner with teams across operations, trading, risk, and accounting to understand needs and deliver impactful solutions.
  • From ideation to deployment, you’ll take the lead on initiatives that directly impact the firm’s operational backbone.

50% of the time:

  • Assist with daily reconciliations and other post-trade activities (invoices, brokerage, rebates, market data fees, and trade breaks) while offering a fresh perspective on streamlining processes.
  • Collaborate with our accounting department to ensure they receive detailed reconciliation reports.
  • Handle ad hoc projects and requests on a day-to-day basis.
  • Provide real-time support by responding to emails, chats, and trader requests.
  • Manage position transfers between counterparties and exchanges.
  • Assist with trader onboarding and offboarding, including setting up new accounts.

What You Need:

  • A BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related STEM field.
  • 1–5 years of experience in a technical, data-driven role (e.g., data engineer, ML engineer, quant ops).
  • Strong programming skills in Python (or similar), with experience in building tools, automating workflows, and working with APIs.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases; bonus for experience with time-series or financial data.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or LLM APIs like OpenAI or Hugging Face).
  • A demonstrated ability to solve complex problems creatively and independently.
  • Interest in financial markets and derivatives is a plus—but curiosity and a builder’s mindset are essential.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Why Geneva Trading?

  • Work on high-impact projects with direct visibility across the firm.
  • Join a team that values innovation, autonomy, and continuous learning.
  • Be part of a culture that blends technology, trading, and operational excellence.

We look forward to receiving your application and exploring how you can contribute to our dynamic team!

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
