What you'll be doing

The Operations Specialist role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely and efficient processing of wire transfer request, and exception handling of wires failing validations including but not limited to Account Posting errors, Duplicate wires, Insufficient funds, Routing Repairs, and System or business function holds while upholding compliance with internal controls and procedures. The role uses judgement regarding priorities and approaches to obtain complete and accurate information to improve their understanding of the issue and resolve the exception accurately and timely. The role requires strong technical and system knowledge to analyze data to ensure quality assurance to maintain customer satisfaction. In addition, the role provides support of day-to-day operations, which may require extended hours during system disruptions or special project implementations.

How you'll succeed

  • This position will support Wires Operations Exceptions Manager  

  • Will work closely with the Wire Production, Wire Services teams, and other Lines of Business like: Fraud, Sanctions, and Treasury Management Teams.  

  • Monitor and clear exception queues.  

  • Communicate with Bankers, Relationship Managers and other Bank Officers to obtain appropriate approvals to resolve (process or cancel) exceptions in accordance with procedures.  

  •  Additional responsibilities may include providing support to wire production for the processing of manual wire transfers, contribute to Business Continuity activities.  

  • Work closely with Internal Audit and other compliance focused teams when required 

  • Other duties assigned 

Who you are

  • You possess at least 2-5 years of banking and/or Electronic Payment (Wire or SWIFT) Processing experience. 

  • You have knowledge of FIS core or FedLine Advantage is a plus but not required. 

  • You have a preferred college degree but, not required. 

  • You show strong analytical and critical thinking skills. 

  • You pay strong attention to detail. 

  • You must be proficient with Excel, having the ability to gather statistics, process into spreadsheets, compute formulas, and format into presentable documents for bank executives. 

  • You have the ability to learn new computer applications and systems quickly. 

  • You will have the ability to get through large volumes of wire exceptions in a timely manner. 

  • You have the ability to support extended processing hours with short notice. 

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $61,500 - $64,000K for the Chicago, IL market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
