What is an Actuarial Reserving Manager at Clearcover?

Clearcover is looking for a motivated actuarial professional with proven technical skills to join its fast-growing team. The Actuarial Reserving Manager supports the Insurance function by performing regular reserve analyses and delivering actionable insights from bottom-line insurance metrics. They bring insurance knowledge, technical and analytical skills, and reserving competency to a company that offers the technology and resources to turn answers and conclusions into actions and results.

About the role

This role will advance the organization’s understanding of reserve adequacy and book performance. This role will i) perform quarterly reserve analyses relying on both traditional and advanced reserving techniques, ii) craft and present narratives to executives and other leaders across the company and iii) support both internal and external audits. The position also plays a leading role in regular analyses on company performance, drawing conclusions from internal data and marrying them with industry information to tell insightful stories to a wider audience. They’ll have a hand in advancing both the reserving practice and the reporting processes at an exciting, growing company, laying the groundwork for how technology-focused insurance companies can evaluate performance and results.

Core competencies

• Bachelor’s Degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training and work-related experience
• 7+ years of relevant work experience, including experience performing reserve analyses
• Current CAS designation, or demonstrated pursuit towards a CAS designation
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and SQL
• Ability to learn new applications and systems
• Ability to process complex data from multiple sources
• Strong ability to communicate effectively and to challenge the status quo
• Alignment with Clearcover core values

Desired competencies

• Knowledgeable with Python or R
• Understanding of advanced reserving techniques, including stochastic methods
• Predictive Modeling experience
