Summary

The Application Support Specialist will be responsible for supporting a Chicago area client with quality assurance and maintenance of Hexagon’s OnCall Records Management System. Under minimum supervision, the candidate will utilize their intensive and diversified knowledge of hardware and/or software engineering principles and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality control, system integration, and documentation services for the client
  • Develop new and/or improved techniques and procedures
  • Responsible for managing their own schedule to meet internal or contractual commitments
  • Independent judgment to support personnel and lower level engineers and software professionals
  • Act as a liaison to other client departments, divisions and/or companies
  • Conducts research to identify issues and possible resolutions
  • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Create a weekly status report to keep client and SDI management informed
  • Ability to articulate SDI’s solution offerings and how they can benefit the client

Requirements

  • 2+ years of industry experience in IT or a related industry
  • 4-year degree from a recognized college or university and/or 2+ years of technical experience
  • Experience writing SQL queries and creating inner/outer joins (preferred)
  • Self-motivated in setting priorities and meeting goals
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills
  • Presentation skills – able to speak to management about specific topics

Additional Requirements Desired

  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, CIS, Computer Science or similar focus
  • Understanding of Criminal Justice
  • Prior knowledge of Law Enforcement work and other Records Management systems for police records
  • Prior work experience with ODBC, VB or HTML
  • Knowledge of databases and networking
  • Experience working with database systems
