The role…

Training is one of the most important connections a client has with us, which means this role is one of the most pivotal at Smokeball. We need highly skilled communicators and trainers to help make the clients’ journey with our software as seamless as possible. If you have experience in the legal industry, even better!

Your responsibilities in a nutshell: 

• Engaging regularly with clients to enhance the value of utilizing Smokeball software. 
• Assessing client training needs and adjusting the pace and environment.  
• Delivering and facilitating client training sessions. 
• Developing, maintaining, and improving training programs, materials, and quick reference guides.   
• Improving software usage through proactive communication. 
• Handling day to day client issues including investigating client problems, determining the source, and recommending possible solutions or connecting them with the appropriate resource.
• Monitoring and fostering interactions within the Smokeball Community.
• Collaborating and working with Onboarding Specialists and Account Managers to ensure clients are tracking toward ongoing success.

Javier Rodriguez-Martin: Hi, I'm Javier! Moving from Vancouver, BC to Chicago was a daunting prospect but it was made easier by the excitement I had for the work and culture here at Smokeball. Let me tell you, Smokeball did not disappoint. I have the privilege of managing the Client Training team and the work we do is central to the success of our clients and our company, Top that off with a strong positive culture and you have a winner in my book. I have a passion for feedback and growth and that fits in so well with our culture here. We are constantly striving to be better than yesterday and celebrating each win together. We work hard but never without the support of the team behind us. I love it when people share what they are passionate about and what they like to do. That being said, I have soft spots for anything geeky, board games, Lego, classical music, Renaissance Faire, and many other things.

Zac Meyer: Hi, I’m Zac! With over a decade in the real estate and civil law space, I have spent years working with law firms with hundreds of individuals and as small as just starting off. After managing teams of dozens of paralegals and helping lawyers to open new law firms, I started to look for a new challenge. I worked with our legal tech companies, but Smokeball made me realize I had finally arrived home when I accepted a job offer with them. As a member of the training team, I enjoy spending time with individuals at multiple law firms each week and discovering how to better run their product not just with legal tech, but the right tech for them. I think this comes from the fact that I truly love our product’s unique way of oversight and ability to see what is on everyone’s plate. By its ability to provide a new way to see your practice being run, it gives everyone the opportunity to succeed and not make critical errors by building the infrastructure your firm needs. It is also the same infrastructure at Smokeball that provides everyone with a seat at the table, through our DEI committee, great domestic partner healthcare benefits, and prompt feedback that makes any employee feel welcome. When not working from home in my office, I like spending time with my two dogs, pub trivia, game nights with friends, and getting back into running.

What You Bring:

• 2-3 years of prior software training experience preferably in a virtual setting with exposure or knowledge of the legal field a plus.    
• Ability and motivation to learn and expand own skills and expertise.      
• Experience in training and/or teaching methodologies.  
• Ability to understand, develop, and communicate technical information to nontechnical users.  
• Highly dependable with a professional attitude, modeling company core values at all times. 
• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills necessary to train clients including a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor.
