Role Summary

The Creative Strategy team is a discipline of the Creative department responsible for managing how creative deliverables are imagined, executed AND presented.  Strategists at EA play a highly collaborative role that must work cross-functionally among many specialized creative, production, digital, and client services positions to craft a brand experience from start to finish. 

Every Creative Strategist must be able to think conceptually and critically plus lead strategic solutions for relevant, motivating brand engagements. The foundation of the Creative Strategy team lies in creative concept management and brand strategy. The team ensures that every concept developed by EA, whether for new business or an existing account, is purposeful, creative, well presented, supported by strong messaging and backed by strategy to meet client objectives. Every project will be assigned a Lead Strategist who will be responsible for ensuring all of the above.


New Business – The Creative Strategist will support new business opportunities by defining the creative narrative, leading brainstorms and applying visionary, purposeful thinking to in-person and virtual event experiences and campaigns in a polished presentation format. The Strategist must always be critiquing the development of creative through a critical, client-focused lens and be a constant “check” against meeting the goals and objectives set by the client and project leads.


Live Project - Once a project is won, the lead Strategist works in close collaboration with Creative, Client Services and Production to define and deliver the creative vision based on client goals and project variables. Those deliverables may include, but are not limited to: event theming, attendee journey strategy, programming show flow (live + broadcast), interactive activation ideas, entertainment ideas, evening event concepts, communication strategy, content strategy, video concepting and more. The Strategist will be the key liaison between graphic and spatial designers, copywriters and digital strategists to ensure all creative disciplines work in unison to deliver on-brand, bespoke and strategic creative experiences.



Responsibilities
 

  • Define and deliver creative brand experiences that are:
  • Cohesive and memorable for target audiences, always striving for ownable if new is taken
  • Foundationally true to the client brand’s ethos and aura, as an effective spoke within their marketing plan
  • Strategically leveraging Agency EA’s suite of creative capabilities
  • Designed with delivery in mind, ensuring tactics are a part of the concepting process
  • In collaboration with the Creative Director, manages the overall creative package being delivered to ensure it meets all client and agency goals/objectives (includes timeline development and project management for creative deliverables) 
  • Writes the creative brief in collaboration with the CD and uses as a tool to clarify scope; determine creative deliverables and insights; and kickoff the broader creative team
  • Leads creative ideation and synthesis of concepts in collaboration with the project team 
  • Leads creative deliverable/concept refinement as budget, scope and/or new requests change existing project needs
  • Engages and collaborates with various roles, disciplines, vendors, etc. (e.g. spatial, graphic, editor, motion, fabricator, producer, etc.) throughout the lifecycle of the project in order to execute creative deliverables with effectively (e.g. consideration of budget, logistics, timeline, etc.)
  • Drives internal and external buy-in of creative deliverables at strategic phases throughout the project efficiently and effectively
  • Assists in occasional quoting for some creative elements 
  • Supports the development of proposals and client-facing planning presentations, ensuring the creative meets EA standards 
  • Keeps a regular pulse on industry trends, ideas and event technology and looks for inspiration in all the places


 Qualifications

 

  • BA or equivalent required in relevant major (e.g. advertising, creative writing, marketing, communications, broadcast journalism, etc.)
  • 3-5 years of industry experience with a dynamic portfolio (online preferable) that showcases creative brand expressions and engagements
  • Strong concept ideation, analysis and refinement skills, including brainstorm facilitation
  • Polished client presentation and pitch experience, in both verbal and visual (deck) presentation development
  • Proficient in directing and collaborating with a variety of creative disciplines (e.g. graphic and motion designers, spatial designers, copywriters, strategists, video editors, etc.)
  • Understands the value of a cross-functional team and actively seeks new information to problem solve any situation
  • Writes creatively, clearly and concisely to articulate themes and concepts
  • A proven ability to work on multiple projects at once, concepting and creating for a wide range of brands, audiences and industries
  • Strong ability to develop timelines and project manage creative deliverables within assigned projects
  • Must be a self-motivated, clear communicator and consensus builder, highly organized and detail-oriented
  • High proficiency in: Apple OS + Keynote, Google Suite, Microsoft Suite (bonus: Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Comfortable working in a demanding, fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
  • Strong active listening skills — the ability to interpret information and turn it into actionable next steps
  • Must be able to travel if needed and work occasional nights/weekends
