Summary

The Data Center Manager will be responsible for the management, operation, maintenance and support of Windows and Linux servers, storage devices, backups and nightly scheduled jobs.  This manager will supervise a team of Systems Engineers and outside resources that will respond to server, storage and network alarms and outages document network the infrastructure, update and close trouble tickets and document root cause of server, storage and network issues.  The Data Center Manager will report to the Project Executive and will work closely with other members of the technology departments to support all technology at our client’s sites and implement new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day to day administration and operational functions of the datacenter server environment
  • Provides advice and guidance to the client on new technologies such as cloud-hybrid and cloud
  • Adherence to SLAs and SLA reporting
  • Oversee the design, set up, configuration and troubleshooting of Windows and Linux servers and other peripheral components to support all aspects of the day to day operations
  • Day to day monitoring of the server and network environment, collecting and preparing statistical data for reporting on server and network performance and availability to report monthly
  • Documentation of Procedures / Networking and server environments (ensure that all network and server documentation is accurate and up to date)
  • Document issue resolution
  • Recommend improvements toward high-availability and performance
  • Advise on facilities and environmental best practices
  • Oversee backup and data restoration operations
  • Oversee media library and off-site media storage
  • Manage data refreshes on test systems
  • Manage Database Administrators
  • Manage and assign local and remote resources for 24x7 support
  • Submit Request for Change forms when needed. Participate in Change Advisory Board meetings
  • Work with developers to design ServiceNow ITSM system to automate incident management, problem management, asset management, CMDB and to collect metrics for SLA reporting.
  • Maintain excellent communication with all end users and other members of the technology department
  • Quarterly Executive Committee reporting and presentation
  • Manage hardware break/fix vendor as needed
  • Create statements of work documents as needed for new initiatives
  • Execute other assigned tasks as delegated by the Customer, Project Manager and Team Lead
  • Respond to systems monitoring alerts and data security alerts

Requirements

  • 4 year college degree in relatable field is preferred or equivalent professional experience
  • 7+ years of data center management experience working within both physical (Windows/Linux) and virtual (VMware/Hyper-V) servers in a 500+ server environment
  • Experience with maintaining a HIPAA compliant environment
  • Experience in managing technical staff
  • Experience with automated management tools
  • Strong vendor management experience managing 3rd party service providers
  • Cloud or Hybrid Cloud experience is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of Cybersecurity best practices
  • Experience with designing an ITSM system to automate processes
  • ServiceNow ITSM system experience is a plus
  • ITIL Certification preferred
