Job Description

Job Summary

This role will lead a team of IT professionals in development of strategic planning objectives and roadmaps aligned to corporate business objectives along with the development and management of governance processes to monitor and measure progress toward meeting those objectives.  The team enables and drives collaboration across the process and functional towers of the   OneIT organization, including, but not exclusive to, strategic process & strategic service transformation management, risk/compliance/audit, and strategic change management & change planning.

In addition, other activities, may at times fall under the accountabilities of this role that are vital for a successful, consistent and secure technology operation across the businesses.

The initial year(s) of the role will include a very strong focus on change management, working closely with the technology leads in the Support Services organization, the emerging Platform teams and setting up a best-in-class ‘business of IT’ function in support of the technology leaders across operational business divisions.
The leader in this role will be passionate, bold and possess exceptional leadership skills.
Outcomes directed by this team will have a significant impact on the OneIT organization's medium- and long-term results in support of WBA business objectives 

Job Responsibilities

  • Directs and insures coordination and alignment of strategies across OneIT process and technical operations teams involving strategy development, resource allocation, work plans, timelines, performance and financial outcomes.
  • Contributes to medium and long-term strategic optimization of the technology operations of OneIT by:
    • proactively and continuously monitoring and influencing the optimization of value and business benefit of technology services to the operational businesses.
    • highlighting optimization potential and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • In close partnership with the OneIT HR Leadership and local HR resources, this role manages resources which support the assessment and identification of technical skills, and co-ordinates delivery of technical/IT-functional learning and development programs that enable the OneIT International organization to achieve its objectives.
    • Establishes and maintains staffing skills and competency matrix and gaps challenges.
    • Establishes forward planning objectives for skills alignment, training, acquisition and sourcing.
    • Maintains awareness and provides insight into external partner competencies and opportunities for leverage.
  • Partners with HR, Communications, and the IT leadership team to update, align and execute internal communication plans for the OneIT organization. 
  • In close partnership with peers and the OneIT Finance team, evangelizes, evolves, and co-ordinates strategic reporting against key performance indicators, develops and monitors key critical metrics across the teams to track accomplishment of strategic goals and landmarks.
    • Coordinates  program level financial reporting to current year plan and longer-term strategy.
    • Identifies gaps in performance to plan and  improvement opportunities to meet organizational objectives.
  • Applies broad knowledge of product/service capabilities and environment to identify new growth areas, new technology and emerging product/service opportunities. Conducts technological research by studying organization goals, strategies, practices, and user projects. Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.
    • Collaborates with architecture and technology teams, and business planning functions to identify roadmaps for organizational growth and/or retrenchment to meet business objectives.
    • Collaborates with process and functional teams in identification of legacy service and operational candidates for sun-down closure.
  • Implements policies and defines approach to strategy achievement for specific areas of business support. Analyzes long-term impact of new or anticipated strategies and decisions.
    • Develops and maintains a ‘look-ahead’ view of requirements for changing organizational services, capabilities, financial impacts and alignments.
  • Manages budgets, operational plans and performance requirements for the specified area of responsibility. Responsible for meeting budgetary goals and objectives.
  • Facilitates communication between staff, management, vendors, and other technology resources within and outside of the organization. Shares highly complex information related to areas of expertise. Interacts with senior management to keep abreast of objectives. Interacts with direct reports and peers in management / customers / vendors to interpret information and improve cross-functional processes and programs. Builds and enhances key internal and external contacts.

External Basic Qualifications

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree and at least 8 years of experience in IT, Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Consulting, Strategy, Project/Program Management and/or Analytics OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 11 years of experience in IT, Engineering Accounting, Finance, Consulting, Strategy, Project/Program Management and/or Analytics.
  • Experience developing and presenting plans involving IT strategy development, resource allocation, work plans, timelines and financial outcomes.
  • Experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the IT organization, within the business community & within the IT vendor community
  • Experience diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems
  • Experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
  • Experience managing cross-functional and/or matrix teams.
  • Experience interacting at the executive level.
  • Experience working as a change agent leading transformational initiatives in organizations.
  • Experience developing and presenting concepts, plans and status to  senior managers (up to CIO-level) and technical staff, and line-of-business leaders.
  • At least 4 years of experience planning, developing, and managing departmental expense and capital budgets.
  • At least 4 years of experience directly or indirectly managing people, including hiring, developing, motivating, and directing people as they work, in an international and multi-cultural environment and has led major transformations in organizational process, technology and performance.
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes, primarily across Europe and the UK, occasionally to other countries including the USA.
     

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
  • Master’s degree in relevant field OR MBA.
