Director of Programs and Engagement 

mHUB is looking for a dedicated community engagement leader to join the team as the Director of Programs and Engagement. This position leads the strategy, development and execution of all entrepreneurial programming including the design of our educational curriculum and mentorship programs that provide valuable support and guidance to our startups throughout their journey at mHUB in pursuit of developing a sustainable physical product business. This position is also responsible for mHUB’s community engagement activities which include establishing community relationships through the development of partnerships with other incubators, non-profit organizations, industry associations and schools among others, in an effort to expand the reach and diversity of the mHUB community and increase access to entrepreneurship, STEM and manufacturing innovation opportunity.

Description of Responsibilities 

The Director of Programs and Engagement is a full-time position that reports to the Chief Experience

Officer with primary responsibilities including the following: 

Educational Programming

  • Lead in the design, implementation and evaluation of mHUB’s educational curriculum in product and business development that supports the growth and success of early-stage physical product companies.
  • Manage the coordination and deployment of educational programs and services including, but not limited to, reviewing lesson plans of educational programming to make certain content meets instructional goals and educational standards, development of marketing strategies to increase class participation, and procurement and maintenance of mHUB resource library.
  • Identify and recruit potential instructors, content providers and mentors, and identify industry best-practices to support program development.
  • Manage mentorship program through mentor recruiting and vetting to ensure a varied skillset across mentor pool.

Member Engagement

  • Develop and implement member engagement strategy, with knowledge of issues and opportunities in the member experience and a focus on member company growth.
  • Oversee membership experience and administration processes such as member subscriptions and services, community activities, and building resources.
  • Oversea membership engagement and retention strategy to establish value for members and support retention metrics.

Community Engagement

  • Champion of inclusive participation across mHUB programs and resources.
  • Lead funding outreach and implementation of diversity and inclusion (D&I) entrepreneurship activities through grant sourcing, writing and partner development.
  • Lead coordination and implementation of mHUB’s D&I annual marquee events.
  • Oversee outreach to community partners and build strategic relationships to promote broader economic development and access. 

Qualifications 

Candidates interested in applying should meet the following qualifications: 

  • 8-10 years of experience developing, overseeing and executing projects and associated deliverables. 
  • Required experience working with startup communities, community building, and innovation.
  • Intimate knowledge and relationships with the Chicagoland technology and innovation ecosystem. 
  • Practice in designing education programming related to entrepreneurship and/or product development 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with executive leadership and board of directors. 
  • Experience working with diverse communities and stakeholders.
  • A passion for civic engagement that provides impact and growth for the region.
  • Strong strategic leadership and project management skills.
  • Experience program fundraising, grant writing and facilitation of sponsored programs.
  • Experience and knowledge of current higher education practice, theory and research, as well as best practices in student success program implementation with an emphasis on research, assessment and data-informed decision-making.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advance degree preferred.

Salary and Duration
