Upwork's Sr. Director Governance Risk and Compliance will be responsible for the delivery and governance of Security programs. This role will also include training, 3rd party management, and communication of the certified program to internal and external parties. The successful candidate will lead a team of skilled team members with a hands-on approach setting strategies in conjunction with the organization's cloud, endpoint, legal and privacy teams.

Your Responsibilities:

• Design and implement a comprehensive program to align and integrate with Enterprise strategy

• Deliver security projects using industry best practices including budget management

• Execute the Global Security Operations Governance and Compliance oversight program and partner with Corporate Compliance to carry out risk assessments in regular intervals and align on critical initiatives after evaluating results

• Partner cross-functionally with key business partners to influence and ensure alignment and support for the Security mandate

• Align and collaborate with fellow leaders of our Global Security Architecture & Engineering and Information Protection teams

• Oversee the development and delivery of end user training under the direction of the CISO

What it takes to catch our eye:

• Deep experience in program management leadership and management experience in multi-disciplinary environments

• Demonstrable experience managing a security program and governance function in an organization with a cloud environment

• Solid leadership background in program management, risk management, and compliance management with strong communication skills.

• Demonstrable track record of delivering security solutions within tight time frames, in collaboration with multiple partner groups and contending priorities.
