The Enterprise Technology Operations team at Discover is looking for a Sr. Manager, Application Support. In this role you will support the day-to-day operations of our Application Managed Services team that is responsible for keeping our Collections, Fraud, and Authorization systems running. If your mindset is production first, process modernization and optimization, and creative problem solving, then this is a perfect role for you.

Responsibilities
- Directs and coordinates activities of the business.
- Develops staff and assigns specific duties.
- Monitors suppliers to ensure they efficiently and effectively provide services within budgetary limits.
- Reviews financial statements, reports, and performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement. Identifies areas for cost reduction and improvement.
- Directs administrative activities related to providing services.
- Provide Day-to-Day oversight of production operations
- Partner with Application Development teams on Root Cause Analysis for production issues
- Work closely with the managed service vendor on SLA’s, reports, and metrics
- Ensure vendor is adhering to, and meeting their contractual obligations
- Identify and prioritize automation opportunities
- Drive down repetitive issues with Operations Excellence processes
Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, or related field
- 6+ years of experience in Management, Operations, Customer Service, or related field
- In lieu of a degree, 10+ years of experience in Business Operations, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
If we had our say, we’d also look for:
- Master’s Degree in Business, or related field
- 8+ years of experience in Management, Operations, Customer Service, or related field
- Excellent problem-solving skills involving complex and ambiguous issues
- At least 3 years of experience in a Technology Leadership position
- At least 4 years of professional work in Mainframe or Distributed Applications
- At least 3 years of ITSM operations
- 4+ years experience with Mainframe or distributed applications
- 4+ years of UNIX/Linux experience
- 4+ years of managing vendor workload and contract management
