Summary
The Technical Solutions Architect – Server is responsible for the design and implementation of information systems to support the enterprise infrastructure of an organization. They ensure that all systems are working at optimal levels and support the development of new technologies and system requirements. Technical Solutions Architects generally lead and direct a team and report directly to top management.

Responsibilities  

  • Analyze System Requirements
    • Analyze existing systems to ensure they offer adequate security and are effectively meeting the needs of the organization
    • Coordinate with all areas of the organization to see that the system is working as optimally as it should
    • Analyze business requirements to identify where they can integrate new hardware, operating systems, or connectivity solutions and document solution designs, including logical and physical designs, for enterprise solutions gathered from inputs by architects, engineers, and operators
    • Serve as the primary point person for the technical solution design and delivery of infrastructure platform solutions related to cloud, server, network, storage, virtualization, data center, backups, end-user devices, application delivery, data protection, backups, middleware, and identity
  • Recommend Alternative Technologies and Improvements
    • Recommend alternative technologies or improvements to enhance information systems to support organizational goals and present clearly and understandably to senior management
  • Lead Design and Review of New Systems
    • Lead the design and review processes for new systems. Develop and document the proposed technical design for the integration and implementation of any new software, working across the IT department
  • Plan for Integration
    • Create detailed plans for the integration of new systems architecture into existing infrastructure. This includes logistical plans for the Operations areas to actually conduct the physical integrations (data center migrations). Provide technical direction and support
  • Evaluate Projects
    • After a new system has been integrated, participate in evaluating the success of the project, identifying best practices and lessons learned
    • Provide feedback to senior leadership and incorporate this information into future integration plans

Requirements

  • Infrastructure
    • 10+ years of experience as an Enterprise Solution Architect
    • Must have experience with LARGE Data center to Data center migrations and technology transformation projects; including migrating all of existing workload (applications) and compute infrastructure into a new data center
    • Working knowledge of and management skills for the cloud, server, network, storage, virtualization, data center, backups, end-user devices, application delivery, data protection, backups, middleware, and identity
    • Skills analyzing application dependency across multiple servers - Total in-scope environment includes ~1,000 applications and 8000+ servers
    • Strong technical understanding of migration of applications and servers to new technologies and environments
    • Experience in developing network infrastructure solutions
    • Proficient in ITIL strategy, Network Security, Network Components, Active Directory and protocols
    • Deep knowledge of network architectures and virtualization technologies
    • Experience with web technologies and building enterprise architecture road maps
    • Experience designing, integrating and managing complex infrastructure solutions
    • Knowledge of client-server, networking and database management
    • Web Tech experience (PAN)
    • Architecture Certification (TOGAF, CITA, EACOE, Certified SOA Architect, etc.) – preferred, not required
    • Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) certifications in Windows 2008 or Windows 2012 - preferred, not required
    • Knowledge of Cisco network and technologies, CCNA(P), Linux and Unix
    • Experience with Microsoft technologies (Server, Active Directory, Azure), Linux, Cisco technologies (router, switches), and VMWare virtualization technologies - preferred, not required
  • Project Management
    • 5+ years of Project Management experience – PMP Preferred
    • Solid understanding of Statements of Work, Structural design principles
    • Capability and experience to provide technical leadership of large IT project independently as well as participating in multi-phase projects
  • General / Other
  • Bachelors’ degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • A strong leader and communicator
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences
  • The ability to bridge the gap between IT and the business presenting complex technical solutions to business managers in an easily understandable way
  • Experience planning and developing support processes and adhering to best practices
  • Ability to provide technical system solutions, determine overall design direction and provide hardware recommendations for complex technical issues
  • Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies
