Summary
The Windows Systems Engineer will be responsible for the management, operation, maintenance and support of Windows servers, and storage devices as directed by the designated Data Center Manager. This Engineer will respond to server, storage and network alarms and outages, as well as document Data Center and AD infrastructure, update and close trouble tickets and document root cause of server, storage and network issues. This Windows Systems Engineer will report to the Data Center Manager, interface with an off-site operations center and will work closely with other members of the technology department to support all technology at our client’s sites.
Responsibilities
- Perform day to day administration and operational functions of the datacenter server environment
- Design, set up, configure and troubleshoot Windows servers and other peripheral components to support all aspects of the day to day operations
- Perform day to day administration and operational functions of the network environment
- Day to day monitoring of the server and network environment, collecting and preparing statistical data for analysis on server and network performance and availability
- Documentation of procedures including off hours processing, backups, and other scheduled tasks
- Document issue resolution using the helpdesk ticketing system
- Submit Request for Change forms when needed. Participate in Change Advisory Board meetings
- Install and configure software
- Maintain excellent communication with all end users and other members of the technology department
- Assist other team members in executing various project tasks
- Work with hardware break/fix vendor as needed
Requirements
- Five or more years of experience working within both physical and virtual (VMware/Hyper-V) servers
- Experience working within large environments that are 5,000+ end users in size
- At least one technical certification such as: Microsoft MCSR, MCTS, VMWare VCP
- Knowledge of cyber security best practices
- Must be highly detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Participate in an on call rotation for after-hours support
- Must have excellent customer service, written communication and interpersonal skills
- Driver’s license required
- Experience with ServiceNow a plus
