This position is based in Northbrook, Illinois. Hybrid work from certain states may be permitted in accordance with Astellas’ Responsible Flexibility Guidelines. Candidates interested in hybrid work are encouraged to apply. 

 

Purpose:

The Partner, US Contracting Strategy and Analysis plays a critical role in providing analytical-based business insights that have measurable impact for Astellas patient access and product performance.  Position is responsible for developing reporting and analysis of pricing strategy and contracting programs for US Commercial brands.  It requires a high level of analytical skill and detail orientation. Serve as expert point of contact for gross-to-net (G2N), pricing and contracting for supported brands.

 

 

Essential Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform extensive analysis of sales, discounts, and performance by channel. Mine data from multiple sources. Analyze trend breaks and investigate root cause.  Create executive summary highlighting key performance indicators.
  • Prepare and analyze forecast for government channels by product, align assumptions with finance and C&P Contract Strategy & Forecasting team. Support all variances to previous forecast.
  • Prepare accurate quarterly accruals and align with finance and C&P Contract Strategy & Forecasting team, support assumptions and ensure integrity of reporting by passing all financial and JSox quarterly audits.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative competitive analysis evaluating impact of potential pricing and contracting strategies and actions across the product lifecycle, including potential launches and loss of exclusivity, and potential patient access investments and tactics that might affect gross-to-net for brands. Assess performance of contracts in post deal analytics.
  • Develop financial models and presentation materials to support contract negotiations for assigned customers. Develop excel models that merge contract database with third party data to produce novel insights. Mine data to establish base case and projected upside cases. Develop reporting capability to track performance of new programs.
  • Support the creation of contract proposals by conducting the deal model analysis of volume and ROI potential under multiple scenarios to determine expected financial impact of proposals. Present for approval at the Strategic Pricing Committee (SPC), ensuring that all analysis is completed and clearly articulated. Maintain database of contract offers and communicate approval status to stakeholders.
  • Proactively maintain cross-functional relationships and dialogue with Contracts & Pricing teams, Commercial Finance, Government Affairs & Policy, Market Access account managers, IT, Commercial Operations, Commercial Insights, Global Pricing, and Legal.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for Senior Leadership using detailed analysis and summarizing information into a concise presentation.
  • Contribute to strategy sessions with product marketing and Astellas business partners on new contracting initiatives. Lead cross-functional meetings to resolve opportunities and move ideas and decisions forward. Highly motivated self-starter with effective critical thinking and interpersonal skills required to work through complexities with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years successful work experience in a financial/analytical role.
  • Advanced MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
  • Advanced level of database skill
  • Working knowledge of sales data sources
  • Strong orientation to detail and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation skills. Ability to effectively communicate issues verbally and in writing in a clear and understandable manner. Ability to tailor communications to, make recommendations to, and engage in debate with Senior Management and leadership teams
  • Customer service commitment with ability to inspire trust and confidence through effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strategic thinking, creativity and capacity to assist others in developing ideas and business opportunities
  • Strong work ethic and ability to produce high quality work under deadline pressures. Ability to work in fast-paced, cross-functional teams

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with contract analysis, financial modelling, forecasting
  • Experience working with Qlik applications
  • Understanding of government programs, policies and legislations impacting pharmaceutical industry
  • Knowledge of US healthcare landscape including market access models and contracting strategies
  • Matrix management skills

Salary Range:  $122,500 – 175,000  (Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and organizational equity considerations)
