Metabase is the easiest way for people to get insights from their data, from tiny startups who get up and running quickly to major corporations with tens of thousands of users. That's why people love us.

We bring data tools with the elegance and simplicity of consumer products to the crufty world of enterprise business intelligence. We provide an opinionated open source starting point for how companies should measure, analyze and share their data, which is used by tens of thousands of companies.

We’re a globally remote, async-first company. Our People function reflects how we operate as a business - lean, practical, and focused on what actually works. We don’t rely on heavy processes or one-size-fits-all programs.
We’re hiring a People Operations Associate to support both People Ops and recruiting. This role sits at the center of how the team runs: keeping hiring moving, maintaining strong systems and data, and ensuring day-to-day execution is thoughtful, consistent, and high quality.
You’ll work across recruiting, operations, and internal initiatives, building a strong understanding of how a global People function actually operates. You’ll report to the Head of People and work closely across the team, partnering on both People Ops and recruiting efforts.
This is a role where you’ll have a real impact through the way you operate - by keeping work moving, maintaining high-quality systems, and following through on the details that make the team effective.
We’re looking for someone who wants to learn by doing - someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, curious, and takes ownership of their work. As you build context, there’s room to expand your scope across different areas of People Ops.

What You'll Do:

  • Support and coordinate interview scheduling in close partnership with the team - ensuring a smooth, timely, and well-run candidate experience across time zones
  • Support recruiting operations - maintaining ATS data, job postings, candidate pipelines, and overall system quality
  • Contribute to onboarding and offboarding processes - helping ensure a smooth, well-organized experience for new hires and departing team members
  • Maintain accurate People data and documentation across systems, ensuring consistency, organization, and reliability
  • Support planning and execution of company offsites and team gatherings
  • Conduct research and synthesize information to support People Ops and recruiting efforts
  • Identify gaps, follow through on open items, and ensure work is carried through to completion without things stalling or getting lost
  • Provide general support across People Ops - jumping in across projects, processes, and day-to-day operations as needed

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong organizational instincts and attention to detail
  • Bias for action - you don’t wait to be told what to do when something needs doing
  • Ability to operate independently and manage your own priorities
  • Clear, concise communicator (especially in async environments)
  • Curious and eager to learn - you want to understand how things work and why
  • Resourceful and able to figure things out without needing constant direction
  • Low ego, high ownership - willing to dive in wherever needed and take responsibility for outcomes
  • Comfortable handling sensitive information with discretion and good judgment

This role is likely a good fit if you:

  • Take ownership, follow through, and keep things moving without being asked
  • Are curious, resourceful, and want to understand how things actually work
  • Prefer autonomy and are comfortable operating without a lot of structure

This role is likely not a fit if you:

  • Need step-by-step direction or constant check-ins
  • See recurring tasks as something to execute rather than continuously improve
  • Are looking for a purely strategic or senior-level role

How we work

We’re a globally distributed, async-first team. This role requires significant overlap with US working hours.

At Metabase, we value people who get things done, honor their commitments, keep things moving, seek to understand, and are thoughtful (at speed). Our People function is focused on caring for the team in ways that reflect how they want to be supported - not through rigid programs, but through good judgment and well-executed fundamentals.

We don’t optimize the process for its own sake. We trust people to use good judgment, operate with context, and take responsibility for their work. That means fewer handoffs, less rigid structure, and more ownership — regardless of role or level.

Why this role matters

This role plays a key part in how the People team operates day-to-day. By keeping work organized, maintaining strong systems, and ensuring consistent execution, you’ll directly impact how effectively we hire, support, and scale our team.

Compensation
The US base salary range for this role is $72K–$127K annually, plus equity and benefits.
Compensation is determined by role, level, location, and individual qualifications, including skills, experience, and scope of responsibility. Pay may vary by geographic location and other job-related factors.

Benefits
We offer meaningful equity and a comprehensive US benefits package, including fully employer-covered medical, dental, and vision insurance (with 75% coverage for dependents), a 401(k) with employer match available to enroll after the first 30 days, flexible and unlimited paid time off including sick time, and an asynchronous, remote-first environment.

We're a global team (50% outside the US), fully distributed (from Thailand to California), who get things done asynchronously, with plenty of uninterrupted time, supporting each other to do the best work of our careers. We offer flexibility (define your own schedule and work from wherever you want), autonomy, and an environment that fosters growth, learning, and development. We're relentlessly user-focused and believe in building long-term value, not short-term hacks. And we raised a $30M Series B to take our approach to the next level for years to come.
