Harmon, Inc.

We are seeking a Preconstruction 3D Modeler to support early‑phase design, estimating, and system development for complex facade and glazing projects. This role focuses on using Rhino 3D to create accurate, data‑driven models that support quantity takeoffs, system comparisons, scope definition, and pricing strategy during preconstruction.

The ideal candidate understands that preconstruction modeling prioritizes precision, constructability, and data extraction over visual detail. You will work closely with estimating, engineering, and preconstruction management teams to translate architectural intent into actionable facade systems.

POSITION SUMMARY

Your top priority is to implement and execute parametric estimating for projects utilizing Rhino technology and creating Grasshopper programing templates.

  • Develop accurate Rhino-based 3D models of curtain wall, storefront, window wall, and architectural glazing systems during preconstruction.

  • Interpret architectural drawings, details, and specifications to model facade geometry, unitization logic, infill conditions, trims, and intermediates.

  • Structure models to support quantity takeoffs, system comparisons, alternates, and value engineering studies.

  • Apply company modeling standards for layers, attributes, naming conventions, and tagging to ensure consistency and reliable data output.

  • Collaborate with estimating teams to ensure modeled quantities align with pricing assumptions and proposal scope.

  • Support design‑assist and early engineering efforts by modeling system concepts, unit breakdowns, and facade logic.

  • Update models as designs evolve and assist with preconstruction revisions, alternates, and scope clarifications.

  • Coordinate with engineering and detailing teams to facilitate smooth handoff from preconstruction to downstream workflows when applicable.

EXPERIENCE

What you need to be successful

  • Minimum of 2-year degree in Engineering Technology or similar field required

  • 5 years of related work experience

  • Experience with CAD technologies for building modeling

  • Reading and understanding architectural drawings is required

  • AEC or relevant construction industry experience is required, knowledge of facade and glazing system components is required.
