General Summary:

Unum Group seeks Principal Business Analysts in Atlanta, GA.

  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of an annual or bi-annual capability roadmap for that domain consisting of the highest priority business deliverables

  • Responsible for the realization of capabilities as features on product backlogs

  • Collaborates with the business leaders, IT Leadership, Chief Product Owner(s) and Product Owner(s) to ensure the capabilities deliver the expected return on investment and are prioritized accordingly

  • Collaborates with architects to create digital business capabilities that are innovative and highly capable. May be involved in the definition of external partnership engagement/agreements.

  • Co-ordinates or participates in tool, technology and service selection, risk assessments and sunsetting in conjunction with technical and business stakeholders ensuring consistency with existing business needs and architectural sustainability.

  • Leads discussions with Business Analysts, Product Owners, Leaders of Agile Teams and the corresponding management and teams to ensure alignment of priorities. Helps team translate strategic themes and roadmaps to tangible deliverables which can become backlog items

  • Promotes the development of a strong customer experience

  • Provides coaching and mentoring for Senior Business Analysts and Business Analysts and ensures consistency of business analyst artifacts and quality of business analysis. Develops and presents business cases for high level initiatives for approval, funding and prioritization

  • Takes responsibility for Business strategy for that domain through analysis and ensures that feature definitions will deliver the capabilities identified on the short to midterm roadmap

  • Collaborates with Test Engineers to define and articulate capability acceptance criteria

  • May serve in a Scrum Master role for an agile team

  • Effective facilitation of cross team priorities and alignment of short term priorities

  • Completes business architecture deliverables as part of broad capability team to ensure clarity of direction

  • Optimizes the user experience across multiple business applications including cloud/third party solutions

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Systems Architecture, or a related field plus 5 years of related experience. Requires 5 years of experience with the following: Analyzing and supporting business applications across multiple platforms including mainframe, distributed systems, and cloud-based environments; Working with insurance-related systems such as policy administration, product configuration, billing, claims processing, and reporting platforms; Business process analysis and mapping across at least 5 distinct enterprise systems, including integration points and data flow between systems; Defining and implementing business rules and global configurations for quoting, underwriting, and proposal generation systems; Coordinating with solution architects and technical teams to define future-state business processes and system capabilities. Requires 3 years of experience with the following: Conducting data analysis using SQL or equivalent tools: Mongo DB and Tableau to support business decisions, identify trends, and validate system outputs; Supporting and enhancing ServiceNow or PEGA based systems including onboarding, task automation, and notification rules; Performing system testing and user acceptance testing across multiple platforms, including manual tools, AzureDev Ops, and automated testing tools, Selenium; Leading requirements gathering and solution design for customer communication management (CCM) platforms: OpenText Exstream; Working on customer-facing web portals or other external persona focused applications: policy holder claims/policy info accounts, broker data portals, or client admin/billing portals.

Telecommuting within normal distance of the worksite permitted. 7% domestic travel, 1 week international travel per year.

40 hours/week; $135,533 - $146,680 per year. This wage range supersedes the base salary range listed below, due to the salary range below reflecting a national range.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$109,100.00-$224,000.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.  All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
