West Monroe is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Principal, Data Visualization to lead and deliver impactful data visualization solutions. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and implement advanced visual analytics using Tableau and Power BI, enabling clients to make data-driven decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end data visualization projects, including requirements gathering, design, development, and deployment of dashboards and reports using Tableau and Power BI.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and translate them into actionable visualizations.
- Develop interactive dashboards, KPIs, and reports that provide actionable insights and improve decision-making.
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and usability across all visualizations.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in Tableau and Power BI, providing guidance to clients and internal teams.
- Mentor junior consultants and analysts, fostering skill development in data visualization tools and techniques.
- Drive thought leadership by staying updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in data visualization.
- Partner with clients to define data visualization strategies and roadmap initiatives.
- Advocate for best practices in data storytelling, user experience (UX), and design principles.
- Identify opportunities to innovate and improve existing processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities for additional client engagements.
- Assist in creating proposals, presentations, and statements of work for new projects.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in data visualization, analytics, or related fields at a consulting firm
- Tableau: Advanced knowledge of Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, and Tableau Prep. Expertise in creating calculated fields, parameters, complex visualizations, and performance optimization.
- Power BI: Advanced experience in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and Power Query. Strong proficiency in DAX, M query, and data modeling.
- Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
- Experience integrating Tableau and Power BI with other data sources and platforms.
- Strong understanding of data visualization principles, including chart selection, color theory, and user-centric design.
- Expertise in crafting compelling data stories that drive business insights and decisions.
- Ability to simplify complex data sets into intuitive visualizations.
- Proven ability to work with clients to identify key metrics and translate them into actionable dashboards.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple clients and prioritize competing demands.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing teams or projects.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with other visualization tools such as Qlik, Looker, or MicroStrategy.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their data services.
- Certifications in Tableau and Power.
Based on pay transparency guidelines, the salary range for this role can vary based on your proximity to one of our West Monroe offices (see table below). Individual salaries are determined by evaluating a variety of factors including geography, experience, skills, education, and internal equity.

Employees will also receive unlimited flexible time off and ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Eligibility for ten weeks of paid parental leave will also be available upon hire date.
