Meet the Moment with Alteryx

We're living through a once-in-a-generation shift in how work gets done. Data, automation, and AI are quickly becoming the center of every business decision - and Alteryx is leading the transformation.

You'll be working on the challenges that sit at the heart of modern business. No matter your role, the work you do will help organizations move faster, see more clearly, and tackle questions that used to feel impossible.

If you're ready to meet the moment with innovation, curiosity, and excellence, there's a place for you here.

Alteryx is searching for a Principal, Cloud Platform Architect. This position is remote-friendly.

Overview:
Alteryx is modernizing its cloud platform to power next-gen enterprise analytics and AI. We're seeking a Principal Cloud Platform Architect to define the technical vision for our multi-tenant, multi-cloud infrastructure — leading cross-cutting initiatives across infrastructure, platform engineering, SRE, security, and product engineering. This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll set architectural standards, drive major modernization efforts, and ensure the platform scales securely and reliably.

What You'll Work On:

  • Cloud Platform Modernization — Define the long-term multi-cloud, multi-region architecture; lead migrations and drive cloud-native adoption.

  • Kubernetes & Platform Infrastructure — Architect shared platform services (networking, compute, storage, APIs) for scalable SaaS.

  • Reliability & Operational Excellence — Partner with SRE on availability, disaster recovery, and observability; design for fault tolerance and capacity.

  • Cross-Platform Architecture — Set standards and patterns across services, APIs, and deployment models; guide teams through modernization.

  • Platform Enablement — Improve CI/CD and developer tooling with Platform Engineering; make infrastructure easily consumable by product teams.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Own the long-term architecture for Alteryx's cloud platform, driving migrations and modernization initiatives.

  • Design highly available, scalable architectures across compute, networking, storage, and platform services.

  • Establish reference architectures and best practices; run architecture reviews for security, scalability, and reliability.

  • Partner with Infrastructure, Platform, SRE, Security, and Product Engineering on strategy and execution.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies, prototype approaches, and address architectural debt.

  • Mentor senior engineers and raise architectural maturity org-wide.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in software/cloud infrastructure engineering, including time at Principal Engineer/Architect level.

  • Proven track record architecting large-scale, multi-region, multi-tenant cloud-native SaaS platforms.

  • Deep expertise in distributed systems, Kubernetes, and containerized platforms.

  • Strong experience with GCP (preferred), AWS, or Azure.

  • Solid grasp of cloud networking (load balancing, service discovery, ingress, DNS, service mesh) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar).

  • Experience with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Datadog).

  • Strong coding skills in Java, Python, Go, or similar.

  • Excellent communication and consensus-building skills across engineering orgs.

Valued Skills:

  • Leading enterprise cloud migrations or IDP/platform engineering builds.

  • Experience with AI, analytics, or large-scale data platforms.

  • Cloud security, governance, or compliance experience.

Why This Role Matters:
This role shapes the technical foundation of Alteryx's next-gen SaaS platform — ensuring it's secure, resilient, and scalable as we grow our analytics and AI capabilities.

Compensation:

Alteryx is committed to fair, equitable, and transparent compensation. Final compensation is determined by several factors, including but not limited to relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.

The salary range for this role in the United States is $215,000 - $300,000.
