Product Analyst

Overview

The Product Analyst – Legacy Platform Modernization supports an assessment, requirements, solutioning, and AI-enabled prototyping effort to modernize a federal client's legacy loan servicing platform, migrate its capabilities to a modern enterprise platform, and plan the full decommissioning of the legacy environment. Working with the product lead and product managers, the analyst performs current-state analysis, stakeholder interviews, process mapping, capability assessments, and gap analysis; facilitates requirements workshops; and documents functional and non-functional requirements, business rules, and future-state processes for each loan servicing capability. The analyst maps integrations, dependencies, and data flows from source to screen, supports legacy function disposition analysis and evaluation of modernization and decommissioning alternatives, and contributes to AI-assisted analysis and prototyping. Success requires excellent written and verbal communication, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to shift priorities, leadership amid ambiguity, and proficiency with the Microsoft Suite.

Key Functions

  • Support the product lead and product managers with the legacy platform modernization assessment across the Requirements and Solutioning workstreams.
  • Perform current-state analysis of the legacy platform, including its servicer portal, supporting databases, reporting services, external servicer integrations, and manual operational processes.
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews and help plan and facilitate value stream sessions and requirements workshops with federal client business stakeholders, IT teams, and subject matter experts.
  • Document current-state business processes and create process maps, customer journey maps, UI mockups/wireframes, and future-state process flows.
  • Elicit and document functional and non-functional requirements (technical, operational, performance, security, and data access) for each loan servicing capability, including general and delinquent loan servicing, servicing quality reviews, claims processing, collections, loan purchase requests, property acquisitions, and post-audit reviews.
  • Create epics, features, user stories, business rules, data mapping, and definitions of reports and communications, maintained in Jira and Confluence.
  • Complete capability assessment checklists covering applications and tools in use, adjacent business processes, upstream and downstream integrations, correspondence and document services, shared services, and risks and constraints.
  • Build integration and dependency maps and analyze application and business domain data requirements, understanding the data flow from source to screen.
  • Identify requirements gaps, duplicate functionality, outdated requirements, and hidden business rules, and support legacy function disposition analysis (migrate, retire, automate, consolidate, defer, or replace).
  • Support evaluation of modernization and decommissioning alternatives, including sequencing options, trade-offs, and implementation options analysis.
  • Use approved AI-assisted tools to accelerate discovery, analysis, and documentation, including reverse-engineering requirements from legacy code and prototypes.
  • Identify automation and process improvement opportunities, and capture employee performance and workforce considerations for impacted functional areas.
  • Create high-quality client deliverables, such as requirements packages, assessment findings, and presentation materials, with regular supervision from the team lead.
  • Be a good teammate to the client and the delivery team, encouraging and enabling teammates to be their best selves.
  • Maintain positive relationships with the client.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience.
  • An additional 2 years of experience with an Associate's Degree.
  • An additional 4 years of experience with a high school diploma.
  • Experience with requirements elicitation and documentation, including user stories, business rules, and non-functional requirements.
  • Experience with current-state analysis, process mapping, and gap analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Can easily shift focus between high-priority tasks as required.
  • Demonstrates leadership in the face of ambiguity, rather than waiting for direction from above.
  • Navigates through challenges to consistently get things over the finish line.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications or Skills

  • Experience supporting federal loan servicing or benefits-delivery applications and legacy system modernization or migration efforts.
  • Existing Public Trust clearance at a federal agency.
  • In-depth knowledge of the mortgage industry, particularly loan servicing, loss mitigation, default, foreclosure, and claims processes.
  • Familiarity with MISMO data standards and servicer reporting.
  • Experience implementing Salesforce and/or AWS solutions for the federal government.
  • Experience using AI-assisted tools for analysis, requirements, or documentation.
  • Experience using JIRA and Confluence.
