As a Product Director for Hardware in Merchant Services - Omnichannel Solutions you lead innovation through the strategy, design, development and scaling of hardware products that delight customers. We are looking for a visionary who is passionate about hardware, design, and about using elegant devices to create magical commerce experiences. As a leader on the team, you leverage your advanced capabilities to challenge traditional approaches, remove barriers to success, and foster a culture of continuous innovation that helps cross-functional teams create groundbreaking hardware devices and solutions that address customer needs. You will lead efforts to build, launch and grow our capabilities for clients of all sizes that require remarkable hardware devices and accessories that allow them to run, grow, and optimize their business. 

 

Job responsibilities

  • Oversees the product roadmap, vision, development, execution, risk management, and business growth targets for our portfolio of OEM, ODM and proprietary hardware fleet.
  • Leads the entire hardware product life cycle through planning, execution, and future retirement by continuously adapting, developing new products and methodologies, managing risks, and achieving business targets like cost, features, reusability, and reliability to support growth
  • Coaches and mentors, the hardware team on best practices, such as solution generation, market research, storyboarding, mind-mapping, prototyping methods, product adoption strategies, and product delivery
  • Negotiate with global manufacturers, suppliers, and tech partners to optimize costs, reduce manufacturing delays, and ensure hardware quality.
  • Communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders, including project status, technical risks, and design decisions
  • Monitors market trends, conducts competitive analysis, and identifies opportunities for product differentiation

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 10+ years of experience or equivalent managing or launching physical electronic devices, consumer electronics, or Point of Sale (POS)
  • Extensive knowledge of the product development life cycle, technical design, and data analytics and supply chain for successfully deploying payment devices at scale
  • Proven ability to influence the adoption of key product life cycle activities including discovery, ideation, strategic development, requirements definition, and value management
  • Proven ability to work directly with hardware, firmware and 3PL vendors, as well as clients, sales, relationship managers and other client facing teams
  • Experience driving change within organizations and managing stakeholders across multiple functions

 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Recognized thought leader within the hardware field, particularly payments hardware that serves multiple use cases.
  • Deep understanding of the payments ecosystem, including acquiring, payment gateways, card brand rules, and terminal software.
  • Global experience working in multiple markets and deploying hardware solutions in markets outside the US and Canada.
  • Experience building solutions that serve the needs of food and beverage, sports and entertainment and retail businesses.
  • Strong knowledge of hardware design principles, including circuit design, PCB design, and system integration.
