Our mission at Plane is to accelerate globalization.

To help companies be global from day one, we are building easy-to-use tools that make it possible to hire and pay anyone, anywhere in the world.

We believe in small teams empowered to do great work. We are all builders at heart, and like to own our customers’ problems—and solve them.

We are looking for experienced generalists that are just as comfortable talking to customers as architecting systems and writing code.

Plane is an equal opportunity employer and a remote-first company.

What you will do:

  • Work closely with founders, product and design to understand and solve real customer problems

  • Lead development of new products and new product features

  • Architect data models and interfaces that provide strong foundations for future growth

  • Own stability, performance, and correctness of your code

  • Influence not only what we build, but how we build product

  • Add to our internal tools that increase leverage, productivity and engineer happiness

Technology:

  • A (mostly) monolithic Ruby on Rails application divided into bounded contexts, and a small handful of services

  • Hotwire / Turbo on the front end with some React sprinkled in (and on the way out)

  • Postgres as a primary data store with Redis and RabbitMQ queues

  • Everything runs on Heroku and AWS

  • Linear, GitHub, Slack and Notion

  • Design system with a component library

What we offer:

  • Interesting high leverage and high agency work

  • Competitive salary and equity

  • Remote-first environment

  • Home office stipend

  • Health, dental and vision insurance

  • Unlimited paid vacation (2+ weeks encouraged)

  • 2 months of paid parental leave
