What You'll Do

We are seeking a highly motivated HD / 3D Lane Product Manager to join our team to help redefine the HD / 3D Lane mapping industry. The successful candidate will own the Mapbox HD / 3D Lane roadmap and execution, working closely with engineering teams on solving complex technical problems in an industry that is ready for disruption. The role requires creativity and flexibility as you work to define the future of the mapping industry. The HD / 3D Lane Product Manager will interface and collaborate with high profile automotive industry customers to ensure our products meet their requirements and are delivered on-time and within budget.

As a Product Manager you can expect to:

  • Develop and manage the roadmap for lane level map products serving 3D Lane Guidance, Navigate on Autopilot, and the Autopilot Map for L2+ use cases

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, sales, and marketing, to define product requirements

  • Provide guidance to engineering teams during product design and development

  • Interface and collaborate with high profile automotive industry customers to ensure our products meet their requirements and are delivered on-time and within budget

  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the product

  • Analyze market trends and customer needs to identify opportunities for product development

  • Manage the product development lifecycle, from ideation to launch and post-launch

  • Develop and manage product pricing and profitability

  • Ensure product compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations

  • Provide product training and support to internal and external stakeholders

  • Continuously monitor product performance and implement improvements as needed

What We Believe are Important Traits for This Role
  • 7+ years as a Product Manager: You have launched successful products in the geospatial and automotive industry, preferably with creating and scaling map data products.

  • Customer focus: You care deeply about your customer’s problems with a keen eye towards design and user experience.

  • An analytical approach: You have strong data analytics skills and always use data to properly evaluate the quality of your product, as well as guide your next steps.

  • Prioritization: You have clear rationale behind the tradeoffs you make and strive to deliver immediate/tangible value to customers.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills: You can communicate about complex ideas concisely to a wide audience (e.g. FAQs and business cases for your roadmap).

  • Ownership: You can develop and execute a plan based on high level direction for feature or product development.

  • Invent & Simplify: You drive toward the simplest possible solution that drives the most value for customers.

  • Technical Chops: You understand and can explain complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience.You have experience working with AI/ML teams and with data operations teams.

  • Go-to-market experience: You have taken your product to market owning the pricing and packaging strategy.

  • Bonus Qualifications: HD mapping experience: You will bring subject matter expertise, hands-on experience, and a strong understanding of the space we operate in. You are familiar with the ADAS and HD maps stack: architecture, use cases, known limitations, and the state of the art approach for creating an HD map.
