With global supply chains collapsing and operating budgets shrinking across the board, we have seen the demand for goods and services skyrocket. The obvious solution to being more resourceful and cost-conscious has been to increase the value of everything already around us. At Rheaply, we’re helping organizations do that by developing better inventory management and resource sharing tools. Although rewarding, this problem is not ours alone to solve, which is why we need extraordinary talented people like you to join our team. While we’re also excited to one day meet in person (and hopefully soon!), we are ready to conduct our entire interviewing and onboarding process remotely.

Founded in 2016, Rheaply, Inc. is a Chicago-based technology company focused on solutions for making organizations more efficient, sustainable, and connected. Rheaply has developed and launched the only exchange technology for researchers to share their ideas and surplus resources with colleagues to reduce time, costs, as well as environmental waste. On Rheaply’s Asset Exchange Manager (AxM), users from all departments can access resources and expertise from colleagues in the same organization or beyond. Recently, Rheaply has been featured in The New York Times, Nature, VERGE, and Greenbiz, chosen as a 10 Big Idea in Innovation by Chicago Magazine, a Circular Economy Solver by MIT SOLVE, and received the 2019 Sustainable Procurement Leadership (SPLC) Award for Circular Economy Leadership among other notable awards and recognitions.


As we continue to expand our business, we are seeking a Product Manager to join our current Product team. This is a highly collaborative role that will lead cross-functional teams and projects. Please note this post will remain open until the role is filled; that start date is as soon as possible. 

What you’ll do

Product Managers do four main things at Rheaply:

  • Bring focus, prioritization, and alignment of the product decisions, roadmap, and vision to the product and engineering teams and the wider company
  • Be the voice of the customer to the product and engineering teams and the company with the support of the Solutions and Customer Success teams
  • Focus on short and long term business objectives including user experience, partnerships, and revenue 
  • Bring circular economy thinking to the team and product

How we do our jobs well:

  • Listen to users: Learn as much as we can about our current and potential users (market), their status quos, aspirations, motivations, product experience, and pain points. This can be through user interviews, surveys, data, secondary information through Sales, Solutions, and CS.
  • Facilitate product decisions: Create alignment between solutions, product, and engineering on what we are building, why, and when. Our decisions should be evidence based and researched. 
  • Over-communicate: share product vision, decisions, roadmap, and implications with other Rheaply teams. Facilitate conversations that are product driven (Sales, Solutions, CS, Marketing)
  • Execute builds: Oversee the design, development and launch of innovative products with a penchant for on time delivery and product experimentation with the help of an implementation manager 
  • Monetize market demand: Work with Solutions and Sales to identify near-term and strategic initiatives and experiments to evolve our monetization strategy, drive growth, and improve conversion 

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor’s degree (or 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu).
  • At least 2 years of experience with product management, preferably within a software development or technology context (3 to 5 years of professional experience overall)
  • Familiarity with user centered design principles and agile methodologies. Experience gathering and understanding user needs, and translating them into product requirements.
  • Experience with meeting facilitation and a proven track record of supporting technical teams to deliver project results.
  • Great judgment and ability to balance business strategy, organizational context and data in driving towards solutions
  • Skilled at communicating with different teams and types of people  
  • Ability to function in and create clarity out of ambiguity 
  • Be a reliable and strong generalist  

It helps if you have:

  • Experience leading external client engagements or as a external client relationship manager
  • Experience with software development and the ability to translate and prioritize technical challenges across product/engineering and business.
  • Experience with product design: user research, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in information technology, information systems, computer science, human computer interaction, or related field.
