Care of Chan is a premiere event production agency, specializing in memorable food events and purpose-driven experiences that create meaningful and impactful connections. We’ve been called community organizers, connectors, ringleaders, restaurant mavens, social chairs, and party planners. We bring people together over ideas, in real life, and over food whenever possible. 

Care of Chan is looking for Strategy Leads to help develop creative narratives and concepts for our event clients. The ideal candidate is an innovative thinker with a marketing background who can blend creativity with strategic planning to deliver memorable event experiences. You will work closely with the internal COC team to conceptualize, develop, and write unique event concepts that align with client objectives and audience engagement goals.

The Strategy Lead is a project-based role best suited for contractors and freelancers

Reports to: Director of Programming

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Concept Development: Generate original and compelling overarching narratives and event themes, experiences, and campaigns tailored to client needs and brand identity.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop comprehensive creative strategies for events, including messaging, press and audience engagement tactics, and other methods to reach client KPIs. Understand client goals and translate them into actionable event concepts that help reach them and drive ROI. 
  • Ideate all elements of the guest experience, including venue selection, food moments, entertainment, takeaways, etc. 
    • Suggest and recommend thoughtful partners and collaborators. 
    • Research and go on site visits, when needed. 
    • Collaborate with Production to ensure that proposals are in line with event budget guardrails.
    • Trend Analysis: Stay ahead of industry trends, technologies, and cultural shifts to ensure our events are innovative and relevant. Research current food trends, chefs and restaurants both locally and internationally for proposals. 
    • Creative Decks and Presentation Materials : Create and format decks for internal and client teams ensuring alignment and consistency across all event touchpoints as well as adhering to company formats and standards and project deadlines. 
      • Incorporate feedback into event proposals as requested
      • Handle updating client revisions
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work in partnership with Creative Lead, production teams as well as marketing, and sales teams to ensure seamless execution of creative vision within budget guardrails

    Qualifications: 

    • 2+ years in a brand or creative marketing strategy, or similar role—preferably in events, experiential, or advertising
    • Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
    • Finger on the pulse of cultural trends, especially in fashion, design and experiential. 
    • Understanding of typical client KPIs, such as public relations and social media
    • General understanding of market costs/rates for vendors and production elements put forth in proposals
    • Strong portfolio showcasing PR and marketing campaigns, event concepts, or brand activations
    • Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills
    • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
    • Proficiency in creative tools (Keynote/PowerPoint, Google Slides, etc.) is a plus
    • Love of food and drink
