The Segment Controller oversees financial performance, manages project accounting, ensures SOX compliance, coordinates audits, and provides strategic financial advice.
The Segment Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial performance of the segment, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and fostering a strong partnership with business units. This role includes project accounting experience, encompassing the management of project costs, budget adherence, and financial reporting. The Segment Controller will also ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and facilitate both internal and external audits.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities:
- Financial Oversight:
- Lead financial reporting and analysis for segment operations.
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports to management.
- Project Accounting:
- Manage project accounting functions including Estimate at Completion review
- Ensure project set up and execution are compliant with internal policies and SOX requirements.
- Support audit of project controls
- Audit Coordination:
- Act as the main point of contact for internal and external audits.
- Collaborate with auditors to provide required documentation and explanations.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of SOX regulations and ensure adherence within the segment.
- Implement and monitor controls to ensure compliance.
- Project Controls:
- Strategic Partnership:
- Develop strong relationships with business leaders to drive financial performance.
- Provide strategic financial advice and insights to support business decisions.
- Team Leadership:
- Mentor and develop finance team members.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and financial accountability.
Qualifications:
- CPA is required
- Minimum 8 of experience in financial management, with specific experience in project accounting.
- Strong understanding of SOX compliance and internal controls.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and influence decision-making.
