The Office of Transformation is responsible for leading the design and execution of enterprise-wide transformation initiatives across NPR to support our ambitious goals for audience growth and enhanced Network collaboration. The Project Manager functions as the central operational coordinator within the Office of Transformation. Tasked with steering high-priority initiatives, this role oversees complex transition timelines, coordinates deliverables between multiple independent teams, and ensures all project milestones are hit on schedule. This position requires a collaborative, detail-driven leader who can seamlessly bridge operational gaps between technical, financial, and station relations functions. 

Responsibilities
  • Timeline & Milestone Enforcement: Design, monitor, and manage the master project roadmaps for critical Transformation initiatives, driving accountability across cross-functional streams.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as the primary operational connector between the Office of Transformation and other NPR and NPM teams, for operational support on NPR’s Transformation effort.
  • Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify project dependencies, flag operational bottlenecks, and work with stakeholders to implement solutions to keep projects moving forward on time.
  • Status Reporting & Governance: Maintain real-time status dashboards and reports, facilitate meetings, and package project updates for institutional leadership.
  • Coordination Support: Assist the SVP of Transformation in coordinating projects and resources across NPR teams to further our Transformation goals.

Minimum Qualifications 
  • 3-5  years of dedicated professional project management experience steering enterprise-level transitions or systems implementations.
  • Demonstrated experience using advanced project management tracking methodologies, software, and dashboarding tools.
  • Proven success directing cross-departmental teams where deliverables depend on multiple matrixed stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior project management experience within a media organization, membership association, or non-profit system.
  • Familiarity tracking project timelines that intersect with CRM (Salesforce) database integrations or corporate compliance updates.
Required Skills/Competencies
  • Elite organizational, scheduling, and timeline management capabilities.
  • Strong diplomatic and consensus-building skills, with an ability to manage operational friction between technical and non-technical staff.
  • High level of agility with a track record of adapting project paths when unexpected data dependencies or legal constraints shift.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. 
Work Location & Requirements
  • Hybrid Permitted: This is a hybrid permitted role. Some aspects of this role require duties better performed at an NPR facility. The employee will be required to be in the office at the Washington, D.C.  location at least 10 days a year. The employee must also reside in an NPR-supported location based on the number of on-site days they choose.

  • This is a full-time, exempt position.
Compensation

Salary Range: The U.S.-based anticipated salary range for this opportunity is $97,000-$105,000 plus benefits. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salaries NPR expects to provide for new hires for the position across all US locations.

NPR Benefits: NPR provides comprehensive benefits for employees and dependents. Regular, full-time employees scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week are eligible to enroll in NPR’s benefits options.
