Position Overview:
The Director of Behavior Modeling manages multiple modeling teams in the U.S. (Chicago) and coordinates with modeling teams in Shanghai and Phoenix to provide analytical solution to drive business growth across the company. The incumbent leverages extensive, deep technical knowledge and leadership skills to drive the development of data science solutions and implement data-driven recommendations.
The Director will work with various business partners and will be responsible for allocating resources and prioritizing projects accordingly. This role ensures the modeling projects are delivered in a timely manner and motivates and mentors the team of data scientists to grow their skills and careers, focused on creating a nurturing environment which encourages innovation and continuous learning.
The incumbent maintains a high level of competency in statistical and analytical principles, tools and techniques and support the advancement of the "best-in-class" analytical capabilities to unlock new capabilities and performance and quickly adapt to modern modeling technique. They will act as a liaison among Decision Management, business technology teams and other business partners in model life cycle to escalate model time-to-market.
Responsibilities:
Partner with value stream (VS) leadership to identify high-value use cases that are aligned with VS business needs
Lead a team of data scientists to provide machine learning solutions to support to the business
Leverages extensive, deep technical knowledge and leadership skills to drive the development of data science solutions and implement data-driven recommendations and outcomes.
Develop data-driven plans, making use of behavioral science, quantitative analysis, and business judgment
Motivates and mentors the team of data scientists to grow their skills and careers, focused on creating a nurturing environment which encourages innovation and continuous learning.
Maintains a high level of competency in statistical and analytical principles, tools and techniques and support the advancement of the “best-in-class” analytical capabilities to unlock new capabilities and performance and quickly adapt to modern modeling technique.
Recruits and retains analytics talent to meet growing analytics need for Discover
Builds relationships with business partners. Allocates resources and prioritizes projects. Ensures the modeling projects are delivered in a timely manner.
Presents the results of mathematical modeling and data analysis to management or other end users.
Acts as a liaison among Decision Management, business technology teams and other business partners in model life cycle to escalate model time-to-market.
Qualifications
Bachelors in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or Business required.
Masters preferred
8+ years of experience in Data Science, Modeling, Analytics or related experience
