Job Description
Serves as the Scrum Master, working closely with aligned product owner, product architect and technical team. Responsible for following and promoting agile methodology and all related scrum ceremonies within an agile team. Enables team to work as effectively as possible. Ensures impediments are resolved and the team meets sprint objectives and releases stay on track. Coaches the team to own and continuously improve their process and practices.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Manager and Product Owner to plan roadmap execution based on estimates and capacity; also identify risks to the plan
- Coach the scrum team to become a self-organized, cross-functional and highly efficient team that delivers high-quality products
- Create and break down product/platform efforts into successful execution-ready plans.
- Participate in planning event and manage execution planning
- Facilitate documenting, publishing and executing the teams’ continuous improvement plan
- Strong communication, leadership and relationship building
- Model, promote, and encourage Agile values, best practices, processes, and behaviors
- Publish and present teams’ agile metrics to management and stakeholder
- Participate and/or Lead scrum adoption practices across the organization and related Community of Practices
- Publish and present teams’ agile metrics to management and stakeholders
- Responsible for facilitating all Scrum ceremonies, such as Daily Standup, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review and Sprint Retro, in addition to collecting and providing relevant data and metrics.
- Act as Servant Leader. Drives team discussion & collaboration, coaching agile principles and the continuous improvement mindset in addition to helping impediment removal by working closely with other teams and impacted stakeholders.
- Attends Scrum of Scrum meetings as needed to synchronize across teams and resolve blockers.
- Assists Product Manager, Product Owner roles with on-going backlog refinement.
- Facilitates Sprint release planning with Product Manager, Product Owner and stakeholders to determine the features, its sequence and expected timeline.
- Ensures sprint releases stay on track and updates sprint activities in agile planning and execution tracking tool.
- Assist with status reporting, velocity metrics, sprint accomplishments, in addition to socializing current risks and issues.
- Partner with others in the Agile community (Scrum Masters, APMs and Agile Coaches) to drive technology-focused teams towards achieving Agile principles.
- Coach the team to own and continually improve their process and practices. Driving teams to improve agility practices and become more self-organizing.
Skills Required
At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or related
- 2+ years’ experience in IT working on an Agile team.
Skills Desired
If we had our say, we’d also look for:
- 1+ years Scrum Master experience in a large organization
- Experience with SDLC (both Waterfall and Agile hands on experience)
- Experience in Agile / Scrum development methodologies & tools (Jira)
- Experience proving reporting through JIRA
- Agile practice related Certifications a plus (CSM, CSP-SM, SAFE, etc.)
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- Demonstration of flexibility and adaptability to pivot based on organizational priorities
