Job Description:
The Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) team at Discover is looking for a Sr. Manager. In this role, you will provide leadership for a team that is focused on Portfolio Planning and management for our Banking business. If you believe that Portfolio Planning is a key driver that is foundational to business success and are ready to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, then this role is for you.
Responsibilities
- Sets up database clusters, backup, or recovery processes.
- Collaborates with system architects, software architects, design analysts, and others to understand business or industry requirements.
- Develops database architectural strategies at the modeling, design, and implementation stages to address business or industry requirements.
- Designs databases to support business applications, ensuring system scalability, security, performance, and reliability.
- Develops data models for applications, metadata tables, views, or related database structures.
Skills:
Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:
- 2+ years of experience in people management, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
If we had our preference, we would also look for:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Ability to operate effectively in a collaborative/ teamwork environment.
- 10 years of Project Management experience in a technology-based environment.
- Business Acumen – Strong knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, business processes and required capabilities
- Financial Acumen – Solid understanding of financial management practices for project delivery in iterative execution environments
- Technology Acumen – Identify enhancement opportunities and translate opportunities into requirements for design and development
- Communication and Presence – Ability to communicate with senior business and technology stakeholders
- Consulting / Strategy Experience – Ability to distill complexity and formulate processes and business metrics that can be understood and implemented
- Delivery Governance Experience – Demonstrated leadership related to interconnected efforts to achieve business goals
- Proven ability to champion an idea and bring a group to consensus
- Excellent problem-solving skills involving complex and ambiguous issues
- At least 3 years of experience in a Technology Leadership position
