Senior Project Manager, IT Operations & Security
About The Role
The transportation industry has no shortage of complex problems requiring creative solutions to scale efficiently. In this role, you will work closely with our cloud engineering, database and security teams to deliver best in class software to address those industry problems.
Mastery is looking for a Senior Project Manager for our IT Operations and Security Group with experience across technical disciplines within an Agile and Scrum-based development environment. This person will be responsible for large scale cloud and security projects and will be responsible for managing concurrent projects and timely delivery of quality project outputs while performing appropriate scope management. The role will manage the overall timeline for the project, managing issues and risks, and communicating project status to project sponsors and upper management.
This position requires a strong project leader and sharp individual who won't miss details while guiding multiple teams. You are someone who thrives in an unstructured, collaborative environment and can distill complex problems into actionable work; you're also an expert at driving teams to completion. Your passion, technical and business depth, and excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills will inspire our teams and rapidly establish trust amongst a diverse set of stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Accountable for the successful launch and delivery of new capabilities within the IT Operations and Security department that support the business’s long-term strategic goals
Develop detailed project plans, schedules, project estimates and dependency tracking while creating status reports to stakeholders and senior leadership
Provide visibility to team impediments/risks and helps eliminate them, identifying data gaps, requirements validations and working with stakeholders to fill those gaps
Own cross department communications, relationship, and expectations to ensure stakeholders have a clear understanding of project progress and risks
Work with PMO and domain leaders to develop OKRs?(Objectives & Key Results)?and track progress against initiatives that will "move the needle"
Collaborate with Project Managers within the organization to oversee dependent release activities and deliverables to stay one step ahead of potential blockers
Help drive program success by developing milestones and holding leads and teams accountable for deliverables
Help create, populate, automate, and manage metrics dashboards
Provide mentorship to junior project managers while instilling best practices and frameworks to help them grow
Drive initiative planning and proactively manage dependencies with partner teams
Provide weekly status reports and help define and write project plans
Requirements
5+ years of experience managing and leading full life cycle, large-scale initiatives in a technical environment
Proven track record of successful project management of complex, cross-functional, large implementations
Familiarity with using and guiding others on how to use tools such as Git,?Excel, Aha, JIRA, Confluence, Smartsheet etc.
Masterful communicator and strategic thinker - you're able to communicate and act upon risks appropriately and effectively
Ability to work across multiple silos within the organization and lead cross functional teams to successful outcomes, including an ability to address complex situations into actionable plans
Possess technical acumen, with fundamental knowledge of key cloud technologies and tools (Azure, Docker, Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, Kubernetes). This knowledge doesn't need to be practical, but at a level of understanding needed to lead development teams within a project or release tasks
Preferred Qualifications
Logistics industry experience a plus
Scrum Master certification or PMP or equivalent experience + ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent experience
Ability to express complex concepts in plain language to reach broader audiences while also being able to mentor junior team members on best practices
Experience in a software focused project management and in the business technology market in IaaS, PaaS, cloud computing and/or emerging technologies
Exposure to or understanding of Product focused project management
