At Scion, we are defining the future of student living and we’re seeking a Property Accountant to join us in executing our vision. This position will manage general accounting functions for an assigned portfolio of Scion’s communities, providing excellent service to our onsite teams and interpreting financial narratives for effective business decisions.                                            

The Property Accountant will work in a fast-paced, agile, corporate environment. This position demands curiosity, an eye for detail, and a drive to provide support to others.

This position is based out of our central office in Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities

Core Accounting

  • Maintains general ledgers in compliance with GAAP and update monthly.
  • Prepares applicable monthly journal entries.
  • Analyzes and prepares monthly financials for assigned properties.
  • Executes monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
  • Researches and reports financial and operational variances.
  • Reviews revenue and contracts, monthly.
  • Provides support to the Operations team as needed, regarding financial performance of assigned properties.
  • Responds to auditor inquiries as requested.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with PMS systems such as Entrata is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Attentive to detail.
  • Manages multiple projects and meets goals and deadlines timely and consistently.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.

The base salary range for this full-time position is base + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
