Essential Responsibilities

The Reliability Engineer, Mechanical provides lifecycle mechanical expertise, developing standards, validating designs, and supporting construction and operations to ensure high‑availability systems. The role oversees performance and reliability across cooling, hydronics, heat rejection, and controls, while shaping maintenance strategies and evaluating failure modes. It plays a key role in L0–L5 commissioning, validating integration logic and sequence‑of‑operations. The position partners with cross‑functional teams and vendors to implement upgrades, assess technical changes, and support incident reviews, risk assessments, and long‑term operational standards.

  • Validate mechanical system performance, ensuring correct response to control signals and operating modes

  • Document deficiencies and track corrective actions

Operational Reliability

  • Collaborate with operations to interpret system data, review alarms, and resolve recurring issues

  • Lead mechanical contributions to root‑cause analyses and incident reviews

Lifecycle & Standards Management

  • Develop and update mechanical standards, preferred vendor lists, and component specifications

  • Assess equipment lifecycle performance and recommend upgrades or replacements to improve reliability and cost efficiency

Change Management & Technical Governance

  • Review mechanical system changes and validate associated risk assessments

  • Advise on operational impacts of proposed modifications

  • Support the development of SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs with accurate mechanical content

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • 7+ years of experience with mission-critical mechanical systems, including chilled-water plants, air-handling systems, heat-rejection equipment, and controls integration

  • The ability to work across engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations teams and make independent technical judgments in high-stakes environments
