Job Description
Bring your expertise to JPMorgan Chase. As part of Risk Management and Compliance, you are at the center of keeping JPMorgan Chase strong and resilient. You help the firm grow its business in a responsible way by anticipating new and emerging risks, and using your expert judgement to solve real-world challenges that impact our company, customers and communities. Our culture in Risk Management and Compliance is all about thinking outside the box, challenging the status quo and striving to be best-in-class.
As a Lead Credit Officer - Vice President within Wholesale Credit Risk of J.P. Morgan's Commercial & Investment Bank, you will play a significant role in managing the risk of and supporting the Securitized Products Group line of business. This unique opportunity allows you to collaborate with top-tier product bankers and other risk professionals, where you will independently analyze and approve loans and lending-related commitments. You'll oversee a diverse portfolio of clients, with the primary responsibility of understanding their business, evaluating and measuring risk, risk grading facilities, and approving credit exposures. You'll primarily work with non-recourse loans and securitization exposures. These are repaid through cash flows from a variety of non-mortgage financial assets, including auto loans, student loans, credit card receivables, consumer loans, data centers, and other assets typically seen in the multi-trillion-dollar Asset-Backed Securities market. Your role will focus on analyzing the risks and performance of these asset classes while also engaging in some traditional corporate financial analysis to identify the financial health of the asset originator or servicer. The position offers a challenging and rewarding environment on a dynamic team where you can leverage your expertise to make a significant impact.
Job Responsibilities

  • Identify, manage, assess, and measure the risks of a portfolio of mostly non-recourse securitization financings, developing a broad and deep understanding of clients' businesses, various asset classes, and a current and forward-looking view of the portfolio
  • Engage with product bankers and junior credit analysts to develop structures appropriate for the risk profile of the client and the assets to be financed
  • Lead and conduct client and asset due diligence, which could be in person or virtual
  • Evaluate and monitor client asset performance
  • Validate and provide credible challenge to the proposed financing terms through the review of cash flow models and other analytical tools
  • Prepare and/or oversee written credit analyses and present recommendations to required credit approvers
  • Monitor the credit quality and risk grades of the assigned portfolio, identifying any deteriorating credits and taking appropriate action to mitigate risk
  • Oversee, coach, train, recruit, and help manage the workload of junior credit analysts
  • Review transaction legal documentation, ensuring that the terms are consistent with approved terms
  • Engage and/or lead other occasional projects, which may include portfolio reviews, regulatory inquiries, and policy updates

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline
  • 5+ years experience in commercial / corporate banking, asset based lending (ABL) or structured finance experience, with experience in credit approval or credit analysis roles
  • Completion of a corporate bank credit/analyst training program or equivalent experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills
  • Highly proficient analytical skills and critical thinking skills
  • Highly motivated, with a natural passion for learning and an inquisitive personality
  • Capable of understanding, describing, and debating complex concepts
  • Strong work ethic, significant attention to detail and an ability to meet deadlines while multi-tasking

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Degree in finance, economics, business or a related field
  • Experience dealing with highly structured credit lending to non-bank financial institutions, securitization structures and/or similar experience
  • Excel financial modeling skills and PowerPoint experience
