Job Overview:

The Safety & Regulatory Specialist supports industrial hygiene, occupational safety, and environmental programs designed to help prevent workplace injuries and illnesses. This role assists with regulatory compliance, documentation, training coordination, inspections, and continuous improvement activities across operations.

Compensation Range: $56,250 - $78,750

Compensation within range to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge and skills, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Responsibilities:

  • Support a positive safety culture aligned with Company EH&S goals and expectations.
  • Assist with safety monitoring programs that help protect employees and support compliance with EH&S regulatory requirements.
  • Help monitor, maintain, and audit safety equipment and programs, including PPE, fire extinguishers, fire alarms, housekeeping standards, near-miss reporting, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and industrial hygiene activities.
  • Coordinate with contracted occupational health care providers and internal partners to support workplace injury and illness management activities.
  • Communicate safety, health, and regulatory procedures clearly and professionally to employees and site partners.
  • Assist with safety inspections, meetings, audits, drills, training coordination, and emergency response preparedness activities.
  • Support hazard identification activities for production processes, document findings, and assist with follow-up actions that improve safety performance.
  • Participate in the Quality Management System (QMS) by documenting processes and assisting with drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Support the Management Review Team (MRT) by preparing information, tracking action items, and assisting with customer experience improvement efforts.
  • Assist with communications, records, and documentation related to federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
  • Help maintain documentation for regulatory reporting and filing requirements, including EPA, IEPA, Tier 2, ROSS, SWPPP, NFPA, and other related programs.
  • Perform other duties and support special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Environmental Health & Safety, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related science field preferred; equivalent education, relevant coursework, or internship/co-op experience may be considered.
  • 1–3 years of EH&S-related experience preferred; internship, co-op, relevant coursework, or experience in a manufacturing, chemical, or specialty chemical environment is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with document control systems, or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to follow established systems and processes and support process improvement activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Foundational knowledge of industrial hygiene, PSM, RMP, PHAs, emergency response, OSHA, DOT, RCRA, SWPPP, SPCC, NFPA, ANSI, and ISO 14001/45001 programs is advantageous.
